How to Make a Rope Rug
Rope Rug
Use your rug in your entry way to wipe off snow covered boots or wet, spring shoes. The silicone paint and polyester rope can be wiped clean.
Materials Needed:
- thick polyester rope in desired color
- felt cut into a circle (ours is 24")(felt should match rope)
- scissors
- heavy-duty construction adhesive
- painter's tape
- paintbrush
- silicone paint in desired color
Start by Coiling the Rope
On a flat surface, start coiling the thick rope.
Continue Coiling Rope
Coil the rope until the rug is approximately 24 inches across or your desired width. Hold the coil down with your hands so it doesn't unravel.

Add Adhesive
Use construction adhesive to create a starburst pattern on the rope coil.
Attach Felt
Smooth the felt over the glue on the coil. You might need to place extra glue underneath some of the felt. Cut off the extra rope.

Smooth the piece of felt over the glue on the coil. You might need to place extra glue underneath the edge of the felt.

Let Dry
Let dry for at least 24 hours.
Add Painter's Tape
Apply a strip of painter's tape across the rope rug near the center.
Paint
Cover one side of the rope rug in silicone paint. Use a few coats to completely cover the rope. Take off the tape and let dry.

Use the Plasti Dip as paint and cover one side of the rope rug. Use a few coats to completely cover the rope. Take off the tape and let dry.
Add to Entryway
Use your brand-new rug in your entryway to wipe off snow-covered boots or wet spring shoes. The silicone paint and polyester rope can be wiped clean.
