Materials Needed:
- white card stock
- aqua card stock for accent mat (or a color to coordinate with patterned paper)
- patterned paper
- foam tape
- felt in colors to coordinate with patterned paper (100% wool felt works best for die-cutting)
- tree die for focal image (optional — can be cut by hand)
- sentiment stamp
- cotton string for small bow
- aqua, pink and red ink (or colors to coordinate with patterned paper)
- sanding block (optional)
- paper trimmer
- glue or double-sided tape
- tape
- 1/8" hole punch
Cut Card Base and Front Layers
Cut card base to 4-1/4" x 11" and fold in half. Cut aqua cardstock to 4-1/8" x 5-3/8", and patterned paper to 4" x 5-1/4". Sand edges of patterned paper and attach to aqua cardstock mat layer.
Cut smaller patterned paper to 2-5/8" x 4" and aqua mat layer to 2-3/4" x 4-1/8". Sand edges of patterned layer and attach to mat layer.
Cut white sentiment layer to 1" x 4" and aqua mat layer to 1-1/8" x 4". Sand edges of patterned layer and attach to mat layer. Note: This layer will be flush on both short ends.
Stamp Sentiment
To create a multicolored sentiment, start with a clean stamp and mask off parts of the sentiment that do not need to be inked in the first color with regular tape (Image 1). Ink, then remove tape mask before stamping first color. Clean stamp, then repeat the masking step before inking with second and third colors (Image 2). Tip: To get a two-toned sentiment, ink sentiment first in the lighter of the two colors, then ink only one edge in the darker color. Note: Using lighter ink before darker ink will keep lighter inkpad from being contaminated by darker ink. Remove tape mask and align second layer of ink with first layer.
Attach Front Elements to Card Base
After gluing each card-front element to its corresponding mat, attach each element to the card base with glue or double-sided tape.
