White Curtains With Colorful Ribbon Stripes

Use fun pom-pom trim and colorful ribbons to update an inexpensive pair of ready-made curtains into custom room decor.

Materials Needed:

  • pair of white ready-made curtains
  • fabric glue
  • pom-pom trim (6x the width of one curtain)
  • three kinds of ribbon (each length should be 8x the width of one curtain)
  • scissors

Add Pom-Pom Trim

Lay one curtain on a flat surface. Put a line of fabric glue on the curtain 5 inches from the top edge (Image 2). Stick the pom-pom trim onto the line of fabric glue (Image 3).

Add Thin Ribbon Trim

About 4 inches from the pom-pom trim, add another line of fabric glue all the way across the curtain (Image 1). Stick a solid, thin ribbon onto the line of glue (Image 2).

Add Wide Ribbon Trim

Put another line of fabric glue underneath the previous ribbon (Image 1). Stick a wide, solid ribbon onto the line of glue (Image 2).

Continue Adding Lines of Glue + Ribbon

Add a line of fabric glue a few inches down from the previous ribbon (Image 1). Add the ribbons in a random pattern on each curtain. Stick on a fun, patterned ribbon onto the line of glue (Image 2). As you move down the curtain, push the top up on the table into a bunch (Image 3). Keep adding lines of glue and ribbons until you reach halfway down the curtain (Image 4).

You're Finished!

The random pattern of the colorful ribbons and pompom trim create a fun and whimsical look for any dorm room.
