Designing for Nashville
Nashville living is both urban and rural, spanning chic downtown lofts to sprawling horse farms. From classic to modern, with a hefty dose of farmhouse, the design styles are as wide and varied as the people that live there. The at-home atmosphere feels welcoming, lived-in and always ready to greet friend and family with a glass of sweet tea.
Sophisticated in White
This all-white living room is anything but bland. Centering the space is a tiled fireplace with a rustic wood beam mantel and a modern-meets-traditional chandelier. A luxe mix of seating, from black-trimmed armchairs to an ultra-cushy sofa, this space is ready to host an intimate gathering or to simply relax at the end of the day.
Bring in Artwork
Step into this gorgeously transitional bathroom. Though you may not always think about artwork in the bathroom, it transforms a functional space into a stylish one. An oversized abstract piece makes a bold statement in this luxe space.
Create an Haute Farmhouse Style
A mix of farmhouse and Old World, this kitchen is a welcoming heart of the home. Terracotta tiles framed in concrete borders establish warmth and durability, while a marble backsplash brings in always-appreciated luxury.
Blend Elegance and Comfort
This open-concept space is multifaceted, housing a dining area, living space and cozy fireside gathering spots. Natural elements, from the stacked stone fireplace to the raw wood ceiling, mesh with casual furniture for a lived-in atmosphere.
Go All Out With Color
A deep teal wallcovering wraps this living room in rich color and texture. Even with an abundance of hue, designer Connie Vernich doesn’t shy away from more color – adding an equally blue sofa and ottoman, as well as an orange leather chair. Metallic gold accents and a bright white fireplace create a striking contrast
Embrace High-Flying Style
With soaring ceilings and grand architectural details, this living room was already bursting with sophisticated style. To enhance the classic decor, traditional sofas and Windsor chairs bring symmetry and balance to the space.
Usher in All the Patterns
One of our all-time favorite girl’s rooms, this pattern-filled space is equally playful and elegant. The classic iron bed is dressed in florals and graphics, all sitting against a watercolor-inspired abstract wallpaper. A crystal chandelier adds the just-right touch of glam.
Try Out Not-So-Typical
Give a traditional room a facelift by playing with paint colors. A soft blue-gray is used for the walls of this home office, but the standout element is the crown molding, wainscoting and doors painted a deeper shade of the same color.
Exposed to the Elements
Indoor/outdoor living at its best. Doors on both sides of this expansive living room open wide to the pool area and deck, creating an endless flow between the two spaces. A soaring vaulted ceiling with windows high above continues the open-air feeling even when inside.
Amplify a Room’s Possibility
To create definition in this open-concept space, designer Kendall Simmons uses rustic beams and columns around each different area. Bright white walls are the jumping off point for a room that fully embraces color and a mix of design styles.
Step Out of the Mold
In this could-have-been stuffy living room, designer Lori Paranjape breaks out of the formal mode and delivers a space with dashes of bold pattern. Set on a completely gray backdrop, the room blends abstract artwork and graphic prints with faux fur rugs and floral upholsteries. The end result is a beautifully appointed showcase of a room.
Play With the Expected
Bathrooms are not just about practicality. They’re also an escape from the daily grind, a place to relax after a full schedule. Floor-length curtains and vintage rugs soften the (necessary) water-proof surfaces of this bathroom, while also making the soaking tub the star of the show.
Create a Look-at-Me Moment
For a designer-worthy space, blend distinct styles together. A classic tufted bed is paired with the simplest of bed linens, but gets a decidedly chic upgrade with an assortment of pillows in rich velvets, nubby fabrics and global-inspired prints. This not-so-basic nightstand has geometric inlays and merges with an Art Deco mirror and oversized lantern pendant.
Saturate a Room in Color
If you’re going to go big, go big. This formal study is drenched in forest green from the tippy-top ceiling to the base molding. Moments of white and metallic give the eye a place to rest, but the calming shade delivers an unimpeachably relaxed vibe.
