Sporty Contrast

“This whole area I am most proud of because it feels like a true family-fun center,” said HGTV Smart Home 2020 designer Tiffany Brooks. Bold green walls combine with black and white decor to create a striking and fun game room that offers something for everyone and lots of Pittsburgh-inspired details.

Fun and Relaxing

A wall-mounted television sits center stage in one of the seating areas to create a relaxing space for catching up your latest shows or for family movie night.

He’s Out

A large-scale black-and-white photograph of an old-time baseball game provides a humorous tone as well as a striking visual that pops against the vibrant green walls.

Pop-Art Style

On the opposite wall from the baseball art, a series of Rosie the Riveter portraits presented in an Andy Warhol-style print series adds a pop of color and dash of Pittsburgh history.

Turf Tone

The deep-green color on the walls and ceiling is reminiscent of a football field and was chosen as a nod to Pittsburgh’s love of all things sports.

Bright and Friendly

Neutral furniture in tones of black, white and gray look polished and classic against the spirited green walls.

Pattern Play

The over-enlarged black-and-white photograph of a sports player’s socks adds further graphic pattern to the room and plays off the black-and-white patterns found on the area rug and furniture upholstery. Using similar tones in a variety of designs is a smart way to create a unified style with depth and texture.

Game. Set. Match.

Matching club chairs in cream upholstery and a subtle herringbone print provide extra seating in a timeless yet modern style.

Game Table

A bar-height table with upholstered white chairs is a convenient spot to gather for a board game or enjoy snacks.

Stylish Storage

A simple bookshelf in rustic gray-toned wood adds extra storage and a place to share family photos. Matching striped bins on the bottom shelf are a great place to stash board games. A variety of potted plants by the expansive windows plays off the room’s green walls and adds a dash of life and color to the space.

Game Time

Side-by-side Skee-Ball tables are sure to invoke some friendly competition between family members.

Neutral Details

The Skee-Ball tables in rustic wood with black accents play off the neutral furniture throughout the room. A series of retro arcade games fills the opposite corner, offering a fun option for everyone.

Modern and Unexpected

White upholstered chairs feel fresh and modern while illuminated letters add a fun flair to this corner of the room.

Multipurpose Elements

A mix of seating, games, shelving and storage creates a multifunctional space that is fun for the whole family.

Game Wall

A custom black-and-white Connect Four-style game is mounted on the wall, adding a novel attraction to this end of the room. The game’s color scheme “connects” perfectly with the neutral decor found throughout the space.

Simple Storage Solutions

Ample shelving holds plants that bring a bit of life and color to the room, while a side console table easily accommodates beverages and snacks.

Game-Day Inspiration

Designer Tiffany Brooks looked to the football field for inspiration. The simple white line of the room’s open shelving echoes the lines on the field, bringing a modern sports aesthetic to the space.

Coffee Time

The side console table in a gray wood finish has room for a coffeemaker to create a handy beverage station.

Modern Beverage Station

Grouping the coffeemaker with a tray that holds coffee supplies makes it easy to quickly grab a hot beverage.

Modern Powder Room

A small powder room is located just off the hall from the game room, so no one needs to run upstairs for a break.

Neutral Beauty

A mix of slate-gray walls and white cabinetry echoes the color scheme found in the furnishings in the adjacent game room and feels modern and fresh in this sleek powder room.

Smart Style

This high-tech mirror is voice activated and includes built-in lighting, adding sleek style and smart functionality.

Modern Accents

A sleek faucet brings a young and edgy accent to this chic and stylish half bath.

Metallic Moment

The clean lines and silver finish on the cabinet pulls echo the metallic tones of the faucet and other hardware in the room.

Contemporary Contrast

Using white for the counter, cabinet and toilet keeps the color palette neutral and adds a dash of brightness against the slate-gray walls.

Polished Powder Room

The simple white toilet has a small footprint and sits neatly in the corner of this polished basement powder room. The electronic heated toilet seat with a built-in nightlight has an easy-to-use touchscreen remote that allows personal preferences to be preset for every member of the family.

Creative Canine

This painting adds a dash of color and whimsy to the otherwise neutral powder room and plays off the artwork and pop-art-style paintings found throughout the home.

Can't Get Bored Here

The game room basement provides endless opportunities for friendly competitions, family movie nights or just a cozy space to relax and watch TV.
