Inspired by the muted gray of the kitchen cabinetry, interior designer Linda Woodrum chose trellis-style fabric for the pantry's counter skirt. "The trellis fabric in the pantry is perfect. It adds glamour, it's very current and it hides everything you don't want to see, just like the perfect dress. And it makes the pantry such a great looking room," she says.
Original dog portraits by artist Christina Hewson stand sentry over the pantry area. Rendered in India ink, the portraits serve as the space's commanding focal point.
The counter skirt, a budget-chic alternative to cabinetry, conceals shelves of storage space. A stainless steel wine cellar, tucked neatly under the countertop, boasts a 24-bottle capacity.
The honeycomb design of a nickel-plated brass wire lamp continues the room's emphasis on graphic patterns.
A rattan serving tray offers up Portuguese-made stoneware and blown-glass pitchers.
Making an understated design statement, stacked cereal bowls stand sculpture-like.
Open shelving provides space to display blown-glass demijohns, wicker charger plates and bubble glass tumblers.
Continuing the kitchen's gray-white-green palette, Italian-made gelato dessert bowls deliver a fun punch of color.
The decision to display artwork over open shelving was a conscious one. "I am aware of long views in any room, in any house," says interior designer Linda Woodrum, who knew pantry interiors should connect visually with both the kitchen and the great room.
