Matt and team head to Blog Cabin North Carolina to help transform the massive waterfront property into a cozy entertaining area. He builds a solid covered pergola with a paver patio that extends outwards to provide a hangout area, complete with a ledge stone fire pit. Inside the pergola, he adds an outdoor kitchen, ceiling fan, cable lights & dining table. Finally, to connect the structure to the home, he adds steppingstones to the porch and builds an outdoor shower which is faced with the original home's shingles.
These homeowners are eager for a private, meditative oasis in their backyard, which includes a sleek wooden shade structure with a beautiful bamboo roof and ceiling fan, a contemporary stone fireplace and tile flooring that mimics hardwood. A one-of-a-kind glass tile art project and comfortable modern furniture are all surrounded by Asian-inspired plantings and low maintenance synthetic turf.
This small blank slate of a yard gets transformed into a shady oasis with multiple wood & metal shade structures, a large blue stone paver patio, metal mesh living screens, a natural stone bubbling water feature, and a wood burning suspending fire feature. A one-of-a kind living dining table, and a custom chaise lounge/planter box unit. And finally, mature Chinese Elm trees for privacy and an abundance of colorful climbing plants.
Matt turns an overgrown backyard into an entertaining space using the homeowners' love of wine barrels as inspiration. The dilapidated patio cover is demo'd and a new shaded patio is built, anchored by a wine barrel pyramid water feature. An outdoor kitchen clad in corrugated metal is added along with a pub table. A wine barrel fire feature is built and surrounded by wine barrel chairs for a very unique sitting area. Finally, a light made from wine barrel bands is hung from the shade structure illuminating the wine barrel stave loungers.
This couple's attempt at building their dream yard goes awry and Matt comes to their rescue. After removing everything from the yard, a large concrete patio is poured and scored into squares with alternating stain color. A large wood grid incorporated with colorful tiles is built to support a water feature, while the wood from the old deck is upcycled into planter boxes. Finally, a large two-tier bar is added and synthetic lawn is installed for the dining area.
This homeowner's wasted mud space gets a Cabo style facelift with a pine timber pergola and redwood hanging bed. A decorative boardwalk deck and bar seating, plus a bronze fire table with comfortable resin patio furniture. A large farm wood dining table with seating for a large family and a beautiful Brazilian hardwood outdoor kitchen. Outlining it all are lush tropical palms and plants.
A young Napa Valley couple is drowning in weeds, struggling to gain control of their overgrown backyard. So far, the best they've done is used a corner as a makeshift car workshop, under a shade structure that could cave in at any moment. Matt Blashaw offers to help them transform this mess into a gorgeous, private wine country inspired backyard retreat. Projects include a gorgeous wall of privacy panels complete with custom metal medallions, Tuscan inspired do-it-yourself table and benches, and stamped concrete patios and pathways. Matt's design features a new fire pit, a pond with boulder waterfall and Tuscan-inspired plantings including large and dwarf olive trees. This couple is ready to make it happen in two days. But first, they'll have to move dozens of car parts out of the way.
This veterinary homeowner has let her yard go to the dogs. Matt Blashaw and his crew transform this yard into an adult lounge loaded with concrete benches, redwood privacy walls, a colorful stucco accent wall, wooden tile flooring, a modern redwood pergola with metal hanging chairs, a custom contemporary doghouse, large shade sail and low maintenance pet friendly plants and grass for the furry friends.
This couple's small yard desperately needs Matt's help. Their dogs have taken it over and the space has become a dumping ground. Matt clears everything out then builds a raised deck off the back door with a barn-inspired metal privacy screen complete with planted horse troughs, stairs down to a concrete patio with shade structure and space for a barbecue, dining area and kegorator. These motorcycle enthusiasts also receive a one of a kind water feature. Finally, a separate deck ramp and dog run are added to separate the pets from the people.
An underused outdoor storage unit becomes a useable outdoor game room with modern wall treatment and custom pipe and wood furniture. Matt and crew also deliver with a granite countertop bar and stainless steel grill inside a ledge stone faced base and a copper water trough. On the opposite side of the grill is a functional copper ice bucket for beverages. Finally, tall evergreen shrubs create a full privacy screen.
Matt searches and finds San Francisco's biggest Giants fans. With the help of major league baseball and the MLB Network, Matt and former pro player Eric Byrnes transform their boring terraced yard into a GIANTS inspired space complete with new huge platform deck with custom metal bar and wall mounted beer tap, a lounging area with large TV to watch all the games, a baseball coffee table and contemporary new deck railing plus lots of Giants bling for the ultimate ball watching mecca.
These homeowners are desperate for a relaxing and meditative space in their backyard. Matt and his crew deliver with a massive vertical garden wall, a custom redwood deck and arbor, flagstone flooring for a new stainless steel BBQ grill, an elevated reading area decked out with a unique privacy wall, custom hanging living frames and finally, a bamboo water feature for tranquility.
These novice farmers are overwhelmed with their expansive blank slate of a yard until Matt comes to their rescue. He helps transform the big, boring space into a rustic relaxing area complete with outdoor prep island with copper countertop, large water feature with bridge and a cozy stone-faced fireplace. Matt adds more seating with rustic wood seat walls and gives them extra living space with a new concrete patio. Finally, the space gets a green landscape with all edible plants including fruit trees, grape vines and plenty of herbs.
