Moving Up
Newleyweds Michelle and Jon have finally moved out of his parents basements into a home of their own. Now all they need is a budget-friendly reno a la the Property Brothers.
Living Room, Before
Before, the living room was a blank palette, ready for Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan to work their magic.
Living Room, After
Now, this light, open space is the perfect room for a modern couple to entertain or enjoy a night in by their cozy fireplace.
Living Room, Before
The living room had plenty of potential, thanks to already open doorways leading to the dining room and entryway. It just lacked a sense of design and direction.
Living Room, After
The Property Brothers took the open layout one step further by knocking down walls and joining the living, dining, and entry spaces.
Crystal Clear
This funky clear table adds a functional place to display accessories without weighing down the entire room.
Great Service
This natural-wood serving tray adds a warm contrast to the modern glass coffee table. And the various fun, white accessories pop against both surfaces.
Fun Accents
On the side of the living room, Jonathon and Drew tucked a sleek table, which serves as both a display for lively accessories (like this oversized jack) and a desk nook.
Cozy Corner
These light beige mid-century modern chairs perfectly balance the dark sofa. Along with the industrial side table, this is a lovely area to sit and enjoy the natural sunlight streaming through the large bay window.
Beautifully Bold
This tufted charcoal couch helps anchor the airy living room, creating a distinct barrier to the entryway. The white, beige, and navy-patterned pillows soften up the bold seating choice.
Warm Wood
Jonathan and Drew strategically snuck in some warm accent pieces, like this unique, modern wood side table, to make the room feel inviting.
A Little to the Left
The Property Brothers put the final touches on their transformed living room.
Dining Room, Before
Before, the dining room was made up of no more than an unappealing chandelier, sad window fixture, and wall inset begging for some creative design.
Dining Room, After
Now, this unique dining area is a modern dream. The bold dining table is surrounded by a funky white plastic chairs, with grey upholstered chairs at the ends. Plus, Jonathan and Drew didn't shy away from the wall cove, but embraced it by covering the area with navy-patterned wall paper and an array of bright white plates.
Bright White Accents
Once again, Jonathon and Drew balance the dark wood, charcoal and navy elements of the room with crisp white accessories--like this combo of serving tray and dishes.
Dining Room, Before
Before, this room was separated from the kitchen, making the space feel tight and confined.
Funky Fixture
The Property Brothers opted to unite the two living spaces by knocking down the adjoining wall. They also swapped the old chandelier with this unique rectangular lighting figure while they were at it!
Meet in the Middle
Jonathan and Drew stand where the wall between the dining room and kitchen once stood, admiring the new opened-up living space.
Kitchen, Before
The old kitchen wasn’t somewhere any modern homeowner would feel inspired to cook or entertain.
Kitchen, After
Luckily, the Property Brothers completely overhauled the kitchen space, introducing a slew of gorgeous design elements like an exposed wood ceiling, chic island sitting area, and a lovely mix of industrial and modern pieces.
Industrial Lighting
This pair of exposed-bulb light fixtures is the perfect choice to add a touch of industrial design to the adjoined dining and kitchen space.
Kitchen, Before
Before the Property Brothers took over, this kitchen was drab, dated, and seriously claustrophobic.
Kitchen, After
Not only did Jonathan and Drew renovate the aesthetic design, but they also knocked down walls and reconfigured the doors and windows to completely open up and modernize the space.
Stylish and Steel
A major part of the redesign included installing brand new stainless steel appliances, which are perfectly balanced by this neutral chevron tile backsplash.
Rustic Shelving
These natural wood shelves with metal brackets add a great mix of rustic meets modern design to the kitchen.
Serving of Style
Once again, Jonathan and Drew use a chic white serving tray as a place to display unique accessories, like this vintage scale.
Modern Cabinets
The rustic shelves and exposed wood ceiling in the kitchen are balanced by these streamlined white cabinets with steel hardware, keeping the space feeling overall sleek and modern.
Bathroom, Before
The next stop on the Property Brother's reno: This outdated bathroom.
Bathroom, After
The new bathroom is way more airy and appealing. It boasts a brand new shower along with a wall of open shelves, perfect for storing towels and toiletries!
Mirror, Mirror
This round, hanging mirror keeps the room feeling open, and the funky wallpaper perfectly coordinates with the navy version found in the dining room.
Moment of Truth
It's time for the big reveal. Did the Property Brothers' redesign live up to the homeowners wildest dreams?
Happy Homeowners
Based on those reactions, it seems safe to say the reno was a major success! Nice job, Jonathan and Drew!
