Erin Napier Is an Early Adopter of the Grandmillennial Trend

She's the queen of historically accurate renovations and vintage finds, but did you know there's a whole movement around her design style?

Raise your hand if you’re sick of faux midcentury modern furniture, white walls and all things minimalist? As it turns out, you’re not alone. Pretty much every trend report points to a pendulum swing for the new decade. One style in particular stands out, and it’s one that will make vintage aficionados rejoice.

In an article discussing the trend, House Beautiful finally put a name to it: Grandmillennial style. The look is heaven for those between the ages of 24 and 39 that would gladly accept their grandparents’ castoffs to decorate their entire home. It's a little bit maximalist and a little bit classic, but one thing is clear: It’s a welcome alternative to the stark spaces that dominated design for the past decade.

Luckily for us, we don't have to look far for inspiration. Erin Napier has been rocking this design look for years. We've always admired Erin Napier's old-school touches, but now we can officially say that she should be considered #grandmillennialgoals.

Wondering if you're a grandmillennial like Erin? If you answer yes to any of the following, you just might be.

You Unironically Love Cracker Barrel

We definitely don't blame you. A store full of knick-knacks and Southern breakfast classics is obviously going to be a hit with those that prefer the tastes of their grandparents' generation.

You Prefer Analog

These tintype photos of Erin and Ben are the definition of grandmillennial chic. Were you one of the first people to buy an instant film camera when they hit the market again? Do you still compose handwritten letters? You guessed it: You're a grandmillennial.

Staying In Is the MOST Fun

Sure, you can enjoy a night out on the town every now and then. But what you would way rather do is spend some time on your hobbies. Whether that's painting, needlepoint, knitting, baking or anything else you do with your hands, preferring that peaceful time is a surefire way to tell that you're a grandmillennial.

You've Decorated With Anything in This Picture

Vintage-style painting? Check. Blue and white vases? Check. Fluffy couch that everyone wants to nap on? Check. Real wood furniture? A must. If your living room is slowly starting to look like your grandmother helped to pick out the decor (in the best possible way), then yep: You're a grandmillennial.

Erin's classic taste is great inspiration for grandmillennial style, but it's even cooler to hear what she has to say about her own take on the well-lived look.

"It takes a level of lived-in comfort and collectedness in a home to make it feel complete and real," Erin told us when we asked about the new name for this old-school style. "All my favorite set designs in movies exude it—The Family Stone, Father of the Bride, Dan in Real Life. These homes aren’t museums of style—they’re real. That’s the hallmark of a 'more is more' grandmillennial style in my opinion."
