Eclectic Living Area Showcases Vibrant Primary Colors

The goal for this long, rectangular space was to create multiple seating areas for various uses: an open entry area, a central formal seating area for entertaining and a more casual TV-watching area for the family near the rear. Bold artwork and furniture upholstered in vibrant primary colors invigorate the neutral space.

Casual Living Area Is Fun, Stylish

A variety of throw pillows softens the modern lines of the sectional sofa and Barcelona chair in this casual family area. The empire-style pendants near the windows add a traditional touch and a fun counterpoint to the clean lines of the Artemis ceiling fan.

Eclectic Living Space Features Vintage Marble Mantel

A vintage marble mantel makes a striking statement in this eclectic living space. The mantel provides contrast against the black fireplace and also helps the dark fireplace to blend better with the neutral walls.

Eye-Catching Entry Boasts Eclectic Furnishings

This open entry features a truly eclectic mix of furnishings — a large German armoire pairs with deep red Oriental rugs, a transitional mirror, a vintage marble fireplace surround and a roll-arm chaise in a textured yellow fabric. To complete the room, a modern white chair is paired with a classic roll-front desk for a striking juxtaposition of styles.

Bold Primary Colors Bring Vigor to Living Area

A major challenge for this design project was the couple's distinct design sensibilities — the husband is a fan of midcentury modern design, while the wife longed to add traditional touches of warmth and character to the space. Here, a vintage, midcentury Vistosi ceiling fixture and framed advertising poster speak to the husband's design style, while the blue velvet settee and roll-arm chaise add a traditional touch. Bold, bright fabrics on the upholstered pieces bring vigor to the neutral backdrop of the walls and rug.

Classic Meets Modern in Dynamic Seating Area

To blend modern and traditional elements in this seating area, Right Meets Left Design used a William Morris print from the 1800s on the accent pillow, which incorporates the same color palette as the modern abstract painting. The transitional style of the chair and floor lamp helps to bridge the gap.

Abstract Art Bursts With Color in Hip Living Room

This central seating area is geared toward entertaining, incorporating an eclectic mix of furnishings and blending midcentury-inspired pieces with more traditional silhouettes. The primary colors in the large abstract painting inspired the room's red, blue and yellow color palette.

Traditional Roll-Front Desk Pairs With Modern Chair

This home's entry boasts an intriguing mix of furniture pieces and design styles. Here, a modern white chair is a nice foil to a traditional roll-front desk. A vintage lamp adds a bold punch of emerald green to the space.
