With an extensive collection of period-appropriate furniture, antiques and pottery, the owners of this 1910 Craftsman wanted to preserve the charm of their historic house while still enjoying a more open, modern layout. Before: Faded Green, Outdated Exterior

Before the remodel, this beautiful Craftsman looked a lot like a diamond in the rough, with a faded green exterior and overgrown plants hiding the home from the street. Brick columns created a wall, but also made the home feel more closed off.

After: Dark Exterior With Detailed Lawn

Chocolate brown trim frames the forest green siding of this Craftsman home, creating a bold, woodsy color palette. A rock bed running parallel to the walkway gives the front yard an intriguing element and adds rough texture to the natural calm of the space.

Foyer Features Wood Staircase, Piano

Hardwood flooring leads to the wooden staircase, where the direction of the wood grain changes to guide the movement through the foyer space. Color blocking with sea green and white paneling adds subtle color to the design, while a wood piano and stained glass lamp further the inviting aesthetic.

Living Room With Rich, Warm Colors

In this traditional living room, red curtains frame the French doors to soften the natural light flowing in from outside. A wood entertainment center and leather bench complement the decorative wood fireplace, while a plush white sofa creates a striking visual contrast.

Built-In Entertainment System

On the other side of the room, a wooden entertainment center with mesh door cabinets tucks into the wall, leaving open floor space for plenty of seating. A low-level bench keeps the view to the television open, while a tile surround and wood mantel give a decorative finish to the fireplace.

Craftsman Kitchen With Island

White columns frame the doorway to this Craftsman kitchen, creating a decorative entry. Brown floor tiles are complemented by a subway tile backsplash in the same tone, while two lantern pendant lights illuminate the small island for a cozy set up.

Exposed Ceiling, Forest Green Countertops

Exposed wood beams in the ceiling give this warm kitchen a rustic touch, which is nicely balanced by modern finishes. Below, green countertops add rich contrast to the soft yellow walls while still keeping the space feeling natural.

Farmhouse Sink, White Cabinets

Deep, forest green countertops add gorgeous color to this traditional. A large farmhouse sink is fitted into the counter to allow for sweeping views of the backyard, just as plenty of cabinets underneath provide ample storage options.

Wrought-Iron Trim Over Range Hood

The leather-like finish of the range hood with wrought-iron nailhead trim adds immediate intrigue to this cozy kitchen. Above the stove top, a framed diamond pattern accent panel decorates the dark subway tile backsplash that separates the built-in cabinets from the green countertops.

Dining Room With Outdoor Access

A simple and stylish wood frame surrounds the large French doors, which connect the dining room to the patio for easy entertaining. The light concrete floor creates a contrast against the rich wood tones to visually delineate the two spaces.

Formal, Wood-Infused Living Room

White columns frame the doorway into the living room, giving the home a sense of formality. For cohesion, rich wood furntiure matches the dining table and chairs, while soft green walls keep the room from feeling too dark or heavy.

Sitting Area Features Earthy Elements

Opposite the sofa, the fireplace surround feels keenly earthy, with a brown tile hearth and wood mantel paired with hunter green accents. Thick wood chairs are padded with beige cushions and turned in to face the coffee table for engaged conversations.

Gorgeous Grandfather Clocks

Sturdy wood furniture grounds the room and gives it the warmth of a Craftsman-style home. In the corner, grandfather clocks add visual height to the space, as well as nod to the home's history in an unexpected way.

Low-Lit Powder Room

Red wallpaper and low, warm lighting gives this powder room an unexpected glow. Meanwhile, the wood vanity beautifully accentuates the red tones of the room.

Staircase Features Stained Glass Lantern

Following the wood-trimmed staircase from the foyer leads to the second floor, where stained glass windows and pendant lights fill the neutral space with warmth and color.

Hallway Features Wppd Console Table

With a woven area rug to soften the wood floors, this hallway easily feels warm and welcoming. A wooden console table to the right gives the owners a place to leave their keys and mail, as well as display their favorite possessions.

Traditional Master Bathroom

A white vanity, fresh linens and bright lighting keep the master bathroom feeling light and airy. Neutral stone tile extends from the sink to the stall shower to unite the two spaces further.

Large Double Vanity and Bathtub

On the other side of the room, a large double vanity gives the owners space to store bathroom essentials like towels and soap. A large soaking tub sits right below the window to ensure hours of relaxation and basking in the natural light.

Master Suite Features Floral Linens

White floral bed linens give a feminine touch to this masculine space, softening the dark wood bed frame. Wood nightstands and the framed French doors add to the wholesome feel of the design.

Covered Balcony With Coral Accents

Stepping out from the master suite leads onto the covered balcony. Here, two wicker chairs topped with coral cushions create a bold contrast to the forest green siding, as well as provide room for afternoon reading.

Walkway Includes Bench, Pergola

A stone base design on the column is echoed on the gate's frame, adding beautiful texture to this outdoor space. A small pergola frames the wood door and supports a single lantern hanging above, while a coral bench pops against the neutral tones.
