Daniel Contelmo Architects creates homes that reflect the lifestyle of their inhabitants, but maintain a loyalty to lasting design.
During his youth in the Hudson Valley, Dan’s childhood was occupied by art and athletics. He won countless awards for his precocious abilities in both, becoming well known in those circles from a young age. When he was ten, Dan was intrigued by his brother’s architecture homework; to the chagrin of his elder sibling, he began producing innovative solutions for each project. At that time, Dan realized that he wanted to use his artistic talents to pursue architecture.
Dan sought out as many art and architecture courses as were offered, honing his inherent skills and dominating competitions in both areas. He was accepted to the New York Institute of Technology with a full baseball scholarship. However, at nineteen, Dan realized that he could not devote himself fully to both baseball and architecture. Ultimately, he forfeited his scholarship to focus on his architectural studies.
Dan worked for several architecture firms while still in college and went on to receive a Bachelor of Architecture degree. Following his graduation in 1985, Dan gained experience while working with several prominent architects. In 1989, he opened his own practice.
Since then, Dan has lived in Dutchess County with his wife Christine, where they raised their three children. Dan continues to use his artistic abilities to render solutions for his clients.
Twenty-five years since the inception of his firm, Dan’s passion for his craft has never been greater.
