Kids' Holiday Craft: Glittering Snowball Ornaments
Add a little snowy sparkle to your Christmas tree this holiday season. These melt-proof snowballs are a fun craft for kids and can be reused year after year.
Materials Needed:
- white foam balls
- scissors
- small plastic putty knife
- joint compound
- red twine
- tidy pins (on sewing machine aisle at most craft stores)
- rubber gloves
- clear glitter
- white spray paint
Apply Joint Compound
Use a small plastic putty knife to apply a thin layer of joint compound to each foam ball; set balls aside till they are completely dry. Tip: Rotate balls throughout the drying process to keep them from sticking to the drying surface.
Paint Then Glitter
Coat exposed areas of foam balls with white spray paint (Image 1). Sprinkle clear glitter onto the still-wet paint. When painted and glittered area has completely dried, flip balls upside down and continue painting then sprinkling on glitter till all sides have been covered.
Add Pin and Twine
Push a tidy pin into the top of each snowball (Image 1). Loop twine through the pin and hang your finished ornaments on the tree (Images 2 and 3).
