Designer Brian Patrick Flynn knows all about decorating. He's the genius behind HGTV Dream Home and HGTV Urban Oasis, as well as a lover of color, character and sparkle — the perfect trifecta when it comes to holiday decorating. Ahead, we gifted you Brian's most festive Christmas tips and tricks. We're sure they'll give you the major holiday inspiration you're looking for.

Every nook and cranny of HGTV Dream Home 2019 boasts a splash of holiday fun. Burnt orange ornaments add Christmas whimsy to a decorative deer head mounted above the crackling fire, while table-top greenery and layered throws ensure a perfectly-cozy holiday home.

Even the most utilitarian space (like an entryway bench) can sparkle with the season if you add special touches. Here, a fleecy throw fancies up the boot bench; greenery and a row of sparkly white mini trees define the ledge atop a half wall; and a line of stockings promise a special night to come.

To get the look of a pro decorator in your home, hang small wreaths at equal heights along the backs of your dining chairs. Brian used small boxwood wreaths along with buffalo plaid ribbon for a classic Christmas look.

Brian created gathering areas all over the HGTV Dream Home 2018 — inside and out. On the front porch, chairs piled with festive pillows and a few decorative accents create an inviting nook to breathe in some fresh winter air.

No need for formal dining: Buffet-style entertaining is easier on the host and more fun for the guests. Brian took this to heart when decorating this dining space. Festive candles on silver stands leave room for food and utensils. Bold tartan on the chairs and a trio of Christmas trees round out the holiday ambiance.

One of the most affordable and simplest ways to evoke holiday cheer: greenery — and lots of it. Brian turned this method into magic in this living area. The dining table is covered in drooping pine branches that complement the other greenery sprinkled throughout the room.

A few simple decorations in this bedroom is all it took to create a magical ambiance. Twin wreaths hang on the windows, boughs of greenery are placed throughout the space, and black ornaments hang on the antlers near the windows.

Spread simple decorations up the walls. Brian hung a wreath hanging from the top of a window frame and a red apron on a hook. Even the long cutting board leaning against the wall gives height to his decorating scheme, providing scale and variety for a more dynamic look. No tinsel or ornaments needed!

Some spots in the home lend themselves to symmetrical design schemes. Case in point: A desk in front of a window. By flanking the window with a pair of branch "trees," Brian draws attention to the sparkling wreath hanging against the glass and the mini desk-top forest.

The outside of the home should get just as much love as the inside. Brian created a magical entrance for this HGTV Dream Home by lining the driveway with luminaries. HGTV's tip: Hang a few lanterns in the trees for extra glow come dusk.

And don't forget the front door! Lighted garlands and wreaths are an easy way to define your doorway and create instant drama. Here, Brian hung battery-powered faux greenery. (Use this battery-powered joy year-after-year to reduce waste and extension-cord hassles.)

No fireplace mantel? No problem. Give your stockings and holiday accessories a happy home on pianos, credenzas and dressers. They provide enough depth to layer on a variety of textural elements.

Garlands can be used for more than mantels and doorways. This outdoor space is bursting with holiday joy thanks to the flocked-evergreen garland and cheery banner hanging between the rafters.

For a fun holiday design, Brian recommends including as many furnishings as possible. Here, he used a buffet as an impromptu mantel as well as a place to display elegant holiday decor. Gold candlesticks and a candelabra sit among mercury glass figurines and a charming reindeer statue, giving the space charming holiday appeal.

Treat your secondary living space to a tree of its own. It's an opportunity to branch out from your main decorating color scheme and try something new. In this bonus room, Brian used cool blues and swaths of silver to create a glam look.

Forget the reds, greens and golds — opt for something bolder if you'd like. Though small in size, this cozy dining space boasts a big woodland-inspired look by Brian. He mixed pine green, charcoal and neutral brown-gray for a rich and inviting ambiance. It's a quintessential holiday space with a seasonal twist.

If you want Christmas cheer to follow you wherever you go, add some extras to the bathroom. Brian chose a miniature wreath, merry accents and two mini Christmas trees to make this utilitarian space feel like part of the festivities.

Unique textures and materials cover the entirety of this woodland-inspired Christmas tree. Brian used an understated and neutral color scheme when selecting tree trimmings. Wool garlands, white tree branches and a variety of silver-hued ornaments deck the branches to create a balanced look.

With three regal Christmas trees like these ones decking the halls, Brian didn't take away from the beautiful view by putting them in front of the windows — he added to it. Ornaments in shades of bronze, burnt orange and gold bring outside hues inside, while the tree trimmings coordinate with the decor used throughout the remainder of the space in a perfectly endearing way.

The designers of this space were sure to make the decor as dramatic as the architecture. Identical white wreaths occupy each window pane, setting a neutral background for the vibrant flocked tree. Other quintessential holiday accessories sprinkled throughout the space ensure the neutral room feels light yet festive.

With only eight feet of width to work with, Brian gave this breakfast nook a Christmastime makeover. A wreath on the window, a Christmas tree figurine on the table and the red-and-white textures draped over the chairs all add the perfect touch of holiday cheer.
