Don't give up on your dingy, boring garage door just yet! We've got three easy ways you can overhaul your garage door this weekend. First up, a fresh coat of paint.

To make sure your garage door is ready for paint, it first needs a good cleaning. Start by removing any dirt or debris, then scraping off or sanding any loose paint. Spray down the entire door with a powerful degreaser and scrub away grime with a tough scrub brush. If the surface of the door is cracked, damaged or dented, you may need to call a professional before you begin.

Once the degreaser has worked its magic, rinse the door clean with water and allow to dry. Repeat the cleaning process on the trim around the door if you're planning to paint it as well.

Getting paint out of concrete is no easy feat. Avoid this altogether by laying out a tarp or a drop cloth.

Once you’ve chosen your paint, it’s time to begin. We chose Behr Marquee exterior paint in Iron Gate. Begin the painting process by first brushing your paint in all of the recessed areas on the top half of the door.

Once the recessed areas are fully covered, use a short roller to roll a thin coat on all of the flat areas on the top half of the door.

Instead of crouching down or bending over to paint the bottom of your door, simply lift the garage door up to an easily paintable level.

Use a brush to push paint into the fine, cracked details of the surface. Once finished, allow all surfaces to dry with the door open.

Take your time and apply the magnets evenly. Even the slightest tilt will be noticeable from a distance. The good news is, they're just magnets, so you can adjust and re-adjust as many times as you need!

When placing the window pieces on the door, it may help to view the door from a distance. This will offer a better perspective when aligning the pieces.
