Rich Red

This traditional man's library is filled with rich leather and wood furniture. The antique map ceiling draws the eye upward, while the red Venetian plaster walls add texture. Soft lighting leaves a calm feeling in the room, and the floor-to-ceiling draperies and area rug tie all the colors of the room together. Design by Jennifer Duneier

Upscale Serenity

This upscale library is filled with elegance. The soft gray and gold color tones coordinate to deliver a luxurious feel to the study space. Glass, metal, stone and Venetian plaster implement different textures for a dimensional look. Two hidden storage cabinets flank built-in shelving to store a large book collection. More Than Just a Library

This luxurious space has so many amenities that you wouldn't even think it was a library. HGTV fan cara58's library is complete with a wine cellar, full bar and limestone fireplace. The large silk area rug brings an extra touch of glamour.

Unconventional Shelving

Designer Ana Donohue created a transitional library by combining contemporary patterns and colors with traditional furniture. The built-in open shelving, flanking both sides of the French doors, provides ample storage, while a large round mirror opens up the cozy space.

Cozy Library Nook

Black shelving and a bold red leather chair bring a sense of drama in this cozy library nook. Designer Jennifer Charleston occupied a corner of the dining room to allow guests to wind down after a big meal. A black floor lamp provides the ideal amount of lighting to create a soothing ambiance.

Tropical Getaway

Sometimes all you need to create a cozy library is closet space, some lighting and a comfortable chair. Designer Judi Ackerman placed a bookshelf in the closet and added a leather wingback chair for a cozy spot to read. Coastal book ends and accessories coordinate with the tropical theme of the rest of the room.

Elaborate Shelving

The high grid ceiling and arched entryway bring sophistication to this Tuscan-style library. The rich wooden desk complements the wall-to-wall bookshelf, while the patterned area rug brings a splash of color. Design by Debra Kay George Interiors

Best Spot in the House

A home library can easily become the favorite room of the house. HGTV fan srk1941 uses the room to sit back on the comfortable chairs and read a book next to a table lamp that provides the perfect amount of lighting. The wall of books acts as the only decor in the room, which evokes a calm feel.

Opulent Yet Comforting

This regal library displays a collection of books and features open shelving to showcase sports memorabilia. The stone fireplace acts as the focal point, providing a comfortable spot to stay warm while reading.

A Little Game of Chess

A sliding ladder allows for easy access to all the books in this masculine library. Designer Phyllis Harbinger added a game of chess and a wet bar for a great place to entertain guests.

Home Library/Bedroom

A home library or study is the ideal place to house a sleeper sofa for the occasional guest. Designer Leta Palatino-Ash used a neutral color palette with rich accent hues and warm wood furnishings. Surrounding the sofa are shelves and shelves of books to make guests feel cozy, comfortable and instantly at home.

Warm and Inviting

Nothing is cozier than a comfortable spot to read during cold winter months. HGTV fan BelleInteriors incorporated a red plaid window treatment and tablecloth with rich mahogany wood bookshelves for a comforting effect. A plush loveseat, ottoman and cowhide rug bring softness to the space.
