To the Moon
Send your little astronaut off to sleep under the stars. Small planets hang from the ceiling and constellations decorate the midnight navy wall. The clean-lined, low-to-the-ground bed is ideal for younger kiddos and has guard rails to keep him safe in his bed every night.
His Own Hideaway
Grant your kiddo a treehouse adventure without having to go outside. Up a ladder is a tucked-away bed, while under the treehouse is a cozy reading and playing spot. The reclaimed wood accent wall against the bold graphic area rug creates a chic juxtaposition of styles.
Go West, Young Man
Rich shades combine for this rustic retreat. The southwestern rug grounds the bedroom and pulls the shades of burnt orange and grays together. Above the cowhide headboard hangs a grouping of antlers, whereas chunky knits and quilts, along with masculine patterns like plaid, infuse the room with warmth.
Parade of Animals
Themes don't have to overwhelm the room. Simple and playful sketches of zoo animals march across the wall above the crib. Sleek, contemporary furnishings keep the nursery light, bright and uncluttered. A white shag rug adds floaty texture underfoot.
Take Me Out to the Crowd
Go with what they love. A cool, graffiti-inspired mural showcases this boy's fandom of the New York Yankees and a few of the all-time greats. The custom-built bed and floating nightstand fit snuggly into the corner of the room and house storage drawers and under-bed lighting that creates a nifty glow when the lights go out.
Sail Away With Me
Feel free to embrace a theme fully. An actual boat surrounds this comfy bed with a fabric board covered in a sailboat motif acting as the headboard. Flanking the bed are matching blue nightstands with woven insets and lamps featuring little sailors.
Things That Roll
Most little boys love anything with wheels that they can zoom and vroom around the room. This soft gray nursery uses simple art prints to carry that love into the space. A playful mix of fabric patterns — navy gingham on the rocker, gray-and-black geometrics for the curtains — combines classic and contemporary styles together.
The Mountains Are Calling
Start his dreaming of the great outdoors with a lovely mountain mural. The lightest shades of gray infuse the space with a calming hue, and brilliant white furnishings give the room a clean, uncomplicated atmosphere. Above the reading chair is a hot air balloon mobile for a dash of color and adventure.
Trek an Expedition
Head out on an African safari every time he steps into his room. Not only does he get to sleep under a tent every night, complete with its own lantern, but he's also surrounded by dozens of marching animals on the walls. A table is paired with a leather pouf and cowhide rug to create a crafting, homework or game-playing station.
Engineering Creativity
The classic building blocks take center stage in this room with Lego-inspired artwork and decorations. The acrylic table doubles as storage and a surface area for designing his worlds (and being able to leave them up for as long as he wants). Bright red and white are tempered by a little bit of gray so the room has a playful but not overwhelming feel.
On the Road Again
Tucked in the corner of this deep navy room is a vintage-inspired race car bed made for your little driver. Pattern fills the space with striped and polka dot bedding, as well as a woven stool that doubles as a nightstand and a seat for grownups to read bedtime stories.
Calling All Superheroes
A black-and-white cityscape sets the scene for this ready-to-fight-crime bedroom. Superhero sheets bring all the primary colors in play and are used throughout the space — in the bedding, curtains, lamps and stripes on the walls.
The Whimsical Gentleman
Bright and colorful, this little man's nursery has fun with its mustache theme, which can be seen in the vibrant area rug and crib quilt. White tongue-and-groove walls are energized by the brilliant orange ceiling, and blue-and-white-striped curtains bring a traditional note to the cheery, eclectic space.
Rustic Meets Modern
For her son's nursery, designer Joanna Gick of J&J Design Group mixes rugged accents with contemporary elements. Since barn wood wasn't readily available, she stained pine wood boards to give them a weathered look. For the "D" above the crib, she punched one-inch squares out of paint chips and glued them to the letter to create a pixilated effect.
Taking Flight
This nursery is infused with a bold, modern color scheme of brilliant orange, pale blue and white. A paper airplane flies around the monogram on the wall behind the crib, and a cozy tufted rocker pairs with an orange pouf to help send the little one off to sleep.
Float Around the World
For her son's bedroom, blogger Miriam Bradford of Other Pieces of Me reverse stencils a ship on the dresser by using a custom decal. A mobile of ships hangs from the ceiling, and a collection of globes adds to the nautical theme of the space.
Around the Globe
An oversized map of the world creates a statement-making focal wall behind the headboard in this small boy's bedroom. Continuing the theme, map-inspired pillows decorate the bed.
Catch a Ride
Transportation is a classic boy's theme. A mural of vintage race cars, emergency vehicle bedding and even a riding toy car deliver an Americana color palette of red, white and blue to the room.
All in the Details
Carry your theme into the small accessories of your boy's room for added fun. Here, cleverly worded and designed storage tins, plus adorable fishy bookends, bring in hints of the sea-inspired theme.
Into the Jungle
Animal themes always feel right at home in nurseries. Here, a canvas gallery wall and crib bumper bring whimsical jungle creatures to a calming white color scheme.
