Geometric Accents
A late '80s carryover trend, edgy geometric-print wallpaper, rugs, bedding and more were dominant in the early part of the decade. This trend has held its own over the years and can still be found in bold accent pieces, like this fun Aztec-inspired throw pillow and orange geometric bookshelf.
Rattan and Wicker Chairs
Wicker and rattan was a staple in the '90s and can be accessorized with a trendy cushion or vibrant paint color to make it on trend today.

Saturated Hues
An offshoot of the late '80s bright neon hues, playful, graphic pops of super-saturated primary colors were an early '90s staple. Today, these bold pigments can be found in trendy, color-blocked rooms, eclectic accent pieces and more. Here, designer Sarah Richardson added a fresh, contemporary feel to an otherwise simple all-white kitchen with a colorful, graffiti-inspired backsplash.
Macrame Curtain
Nothing says '90s like a beaded macrame curtain. For a spin on this design accessory, try a DIY window curtain that acts as an unobtrusive divider.
Dark Wood Kitchen Cabinets
Dark wood cabinetry is making a comeback and this kitchen shows that a little color can be a good thing.
