In this home's new kitchen addition, designers used pieces of the old kitchen space, such as the old cabinets and wood floors, to create the new one. Then, they added features such as open shelves, stainless steel appliances, subway tile and wrought iron chairs to create a visually interesting rustic, industrial eat-in kitchen.

The kitchen cabinets in this design are from the original home. They have been cleaned, painted and reconfigured to give them new life and, when combined with the new cabinet hardware and drawer pulls, give the space a custom, unique, rustic look.

Rather than upper cabinets for wall storage, designers opted for open shelving that was crafted out of materials that were repurposed from the home's original kitchen.

To give the kitchen space a little industrial flair, designers added this cool light fixture above the dining table.
