Materials Needed:

  • scanner
  • seed packets
  • fabric sheers
  • solid-color linen fabric

Step 1

Scan vintage seed packets at a high resolution. Upload the images to spoonflower.com, following the site’s instructions, to create custom fabric.

Step 2

Cut the fabric into 21-inch squares (one for each pillow cover) so the images are centered. Cut solid-color linen into 21-inch-by-15-inch pieces—you’ll need two for each pillow. At this point, you could bring the fabric and linen to a seamstress. Ask the pro to make envelope back pillow covers for 20-inch square inserts. If DIYing, continue to Step 3.

Step 4

Lay your custom fabric right side up. Place a piece of linen on top, right side down, so it covers the left side of the custom fabric, with the hem you made near the center. Repeat with a second piece of linen, but this time cover the right side of the custom fabric. Its hem should also be near the center—it will overlap the first piece of linen.
