Step Up Your Holiday Decor With This Pretty Citrus Garland

This holiday season, make a beautiful garden-inspired garland that appeals to all the senses.

For this craft, you will need yarn, garden twine, oranges (or any citrus fruit), fresh herbs, greenery, metal ornaments, a sharp knife, floral wire and scissors.

Begin by slicing the oranges thinly in rounds. You can also use grapefruit for a little variety. All citrus works nicely for this craft.

Lay the citrus slices on a cookie sheet and bake at 200 degrees until they are dried. This can take a couple of hours.

Next, gather the garden twine, the citrus slices, floral wire and a pair of scissors.

Cut a piece of floral wire approximately 8 inches. Fold it in half. Leave a small loop at the fold and twist the wire together to make a make-shift needle. Cut a length of twine approximately 10 inches. String the twine through the needle, then push the needle with the twine through the fruit slice.

Repeat the stringing process for all the fruit slices.

Tie the citrus slices to the yarn at regular intervals. You can tie them onto the yarn with a knot or bow or both.

Next, cut a few snips of rosemary a few inches long. Tie a piece of twine around a few pieces or combine a sprig with a citrus slice then tie it onto the garland. You can also add assorted greenery in bundles.

Next, add a few metal ornaments to the garland. Simply remove the strings that came on them, restring them and tie them to the garland to match.

Lastly, fill in any blank spaces with small bundles of herbs and fresh greenery as necessary.
