Sadie says steps to painting a room begin with painting the ceiling, first cutting in the transitions to the walls and then using a roller to paint the rest of the ceiling. Paint your trim after painting the ceiling; three coats of paint should do the job. Finish painting your room by first applying painter's tape to your trim, then painting the walls.
