User-Friendly Door
Made from pine with a dark stain, designer Brian Patrick Flynn’s team created and installed this low user-friendly Dutch-style door that closes off the pet nook from surrounding spaces in the home. Outside the pet nook door sits an industrial-style iron pet feeder with raised ceramic dog food bowls that gives pets a posh way to enjoy mealtime.

Fun Art
Graphic art with professionally hand stretched cotton canvas over a solid wood frame depicts a feline resembling Clint Eastwood wearing a designer pashmina scarf, adding a touch of whimsy to the wall above the dresser. The top of the dresser includes decorative accessories, dog books and a modern and edgy geo cut table lamp for illumination.

Sofa for Snoozing
Made from washable linen with a solid wood frame, a gray pet sofa gives Fido a comfortable spot to get cozy and take a nap. Above the sofa hangs a brown bone-shaped woven wicker pet toy basket that decorates the wall and provides a way to corral small toys and keep them off the floor.

Chow Time
The pet nook at HGTV Dream Home 2019 comes stocked with a wonderful supply of wet and dry gourmet dog food made for the most discriminating canines. A white feeder and storage container cabinet has three hand-dipped ceramic cannisters on top with air tight rubber seals that keep treats fresh and pests out.

Double Duty Door
The handsome custom pine door on the pet nook serves a couple of purposes. “I didn’t want the pet space to be hidden, I wanted it to actually be part of the design,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn. “Doing a half door immediately lets everyone know there is a special space tucked below the stairs for pet supplies and as a pet apartment, almost.” The pet nook also includes a handy doggie door to the outside.
