When Anna Spangler arrived at a wine and painting class, she thought the group of friends and her husband, a dairy farmer, were there to enjoy a fun-filled Friday night. So she was floored when HGTV Dream Home 2017 host Tiffany Brooks and a small production crew showed up to tell her that she’d won the stunning waterfront home on St. Simons Island, Georgia.

Before the session began, the owner explained that the camera crew was there to shoot a commercial for the studio. Anna had no clue what was actually going to take place.

Anna’s best friend, Julie, was in on the planning and kept the news a secret so that Anna could be completely surprised. The group painted a beach scene, which was the perfect nod to Anna’s good fortune.

An hour into the session, the class was instructed to take a break for a game. Participants were directed to put paper plates on their foreheads and paint various pictures that the teacher had chosen. To decide the winner, the owner picked three finalists, which included Anna. Tiffany Brooks was chosen to be the judge. She looked at each one, and then selected Anna as the winner. Little did Anna know she was the winner of a big surprise.

Tiffany opened a side drawer and pulled out an HGTV microphone and took off her disguise, which were a pair of glasses. She then announced why she was there, to surprise Anna, the lucky winner of HGTV Dream Home 2017.

“It was surreal,” Anna says. “It is absolutely unbelievable!”

Anna’s name was randomly drawn from 131 million entries to the sweepstakes. After entering the HGTV Dream Home 2017 twice a day almost everyday this year, she never thought this dream would be hers.

Along with a 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom, waterfront paradise located on St. Simons Island, Georgia, Anna's prize package includes $250,000 cash from national mortgage lender Quicken Loans® and a brand new Honda Pilot, a grand-prize package valued at over $1.7 million.

Our lucky winner is still amazed by her stroke of good fortune, and is looking forward to enjoying her winnings. Anna and her husband can’t wait to visit St. Simons Island later this month to see the home for the first time.
