Landscaping, inspired by indigenous meadow grasses, caps the exterior design of this exquisite modern rustic ranch home.

In what will become the home’s cozy front entry, a simple staircase takes shape.

Staircase: After

Douglas fir mortis-and-tenon timbers comprise staircase posts and rails, with custom-cut glass pieces between posts.

Great Room: Before

Utah limestone-clad walls and a handcrafted timber trestle system contribute to the room’s invented history, that of an old stone structure.

Great Room: After

The room’s color palette, inspired by Utah’s beautiful blues — water, mountains and sky — and a cozy mix of furnishings soften the space.

Bedroom One: Before

Designed as a private escape, the first-floor guest room is sequestered from other living spaces by a hallway.

Bedroom One: After

Light, bright and relaxing, the guest bedroom realizes interior designer Linda Woodrum’s vision of “escape.”

Kitchen: Before

The heart of HGTV Dream Home 2012, the kitchen was designed to feel like a more recent addition to an older home.

The great room’s color palette extends into the kitchen, where sleek white cabinetry, cobalt-blue tile and a neutral island make a subtle design statement.

Dining Room: Before

Built to jut out slightly into the yard, the dining room offers three walls of windows.

Dining Room: After

Ikat-upholstered chairs pair well with oversized Windsors in the cozy, sun-filled space. A farm-style table with distressed top appears as if it was passed down through the generations.

Changing Room: Before

French doors replaced a window in this room, which leads directly to HGTV Dream Home’s backyard and the Provo River, just a short hike beyond.

Changing Room: After

This fishing and adventure room transitions guests from outdoor activities to relaxation indoors. Standout features include a spa-style bathroom, a sauna room and plenty of peg rail storage for fishing gear.

Just steps from the garage, this hard-working space will serve as storage central.

Laundry Room: After

Locker-style cabinetry, quartz countertops and travertine floors are among the finishing touches in this washday-dedicated room.

Family Room: Before

Located in what was originally designated as the children’s wing, this first-floor room leads out to its own dedicated deck.

Family Room: After

A Western saloon theme comprises the interior design of this game and entertainment room. The vibrant color palette was chosen to counter the great room’s soft, subtle hues.

Bedroom Two: Before

This second-floor bedroom was originally earmarked as a bunk room, a space where children could play without disturbing guests in other areas of the home.

Bedroom Two: After

Converted to a second guest bedroom, this second-floor escape boasts an Americana design scheme and a patriotic color palette.

With a vaulted ceiling and Juliet-style balcony, this space will provide a quiet escape for the homeowner.

A mossy-green wall shade and an eclectic mix of furnishings lend interest in this gathering space.

Master Bedroom: Before

With its own dedicated deck, this space is destined to be the most magnificent of HGTV Dream Home 2012 rooms.

Master Bedroom: After

Luxurious bedding, a custom headboard treatment that takes advantage of an existing architectural element and a dramatic chandelier make the most of this elegant space.

Master Bathroom: Before

To create the look and feel of an outdoor shower, the design/build team incorporated three walls of windows and earthy, travertine tile.

Master Bathroom: After

A beautiful escape, the master bathroom boasts a soaking tub, his-and-hers vanities and his-and-hers closets.
