Slate, trimmed in irregular shapes, paves the lower level's terrace, designed to accommodate guests with a grilling station, hot tub and outdoor dining table.
A marble-topped, cast-aluminum table is ideal for spring and summertime entertaining. A candle plate and fresh vegetables stand in for a more elaborate table centerpiece.
Reversible cushions attached with tabs withstand the elements and may be removed as seasons change.
Hand-blown drinking glasses and lime-green earthenware continue the living area's design story.
A bluestone island with bluestone counter houses the home's gas grill. "It could be snowing out and Vermonters are still going to use the barbecue," says interior designer Linda Woodrum.
A six-person, in-ground hot tub is set in a stone base. A gas fireplace, visible from the guest bedroom, provides both warmth and ambiance.
A staircase, clad in AZEK decking and stainless steel and cedar railing, connects the terrace to the home's second outdoor room, the back deck.
Retaining walls that bolster the terrace are supported by massive boulders sourced on-site.
A masonry system mimics the appearance of a limestone and gives the lower-level exterior an old-world look.
