A Secret Garden for Socializing
A privacy fence of cedar pine protects the backyard from street view. It remains a mystery until one passes under the Victorian-style arbor and enters into an outdoor oasis, complete with formal courtyard, vineyard and luxury doghouse fit for the family's best friend.
Table Talk
A rustic picnic table serves as the focal point of the enchanting rose and hydrangea-bordered courtyard. It's surrounded by all-weather vinyl chairs and topped with an oversized reproduction of an antique French candle lantern.
Cook Station
An outdoor kitchen will serve as the center of fun in this casual entertaining space. The outdoor kitchen features a granite-style Silestone counter with built-in Wolf gas grill. The stainless steel grill includes a push-button, battery-powered ignition and rotisserie. A Sub-Zero refrigerator, enclosed in a cabinet below the counter, and an outdoor sink make cooking and clean up effortless.
A Win With Zin
While strolling through Napa, house planner Jack Thomasson took notice. Several homes along a cozy street featured small front-yard vineyards. Jack came back to Sonoma and, with help from vintner and HGTV Dream Home developer Steve Ledson, mapped out the perfect spot in the backyard to grow grapes. Within three years, Jack says, the vineyard, planted with Zinfandel grapes, will yield a harvest large enough to produce one case of wine.
Pet Paradise
The Doggie Dream Home, a miniature replica of HGTV Dream Home 2009, will become a pet paradise for one lucky pooch. The 4' x 4' shingled structure, designed by architect Norm Oliver and built by Pat Geary, offers plenty of room for a medium-sized pooch to stretch out his paws and make himself at home.
