Just off the kitchen, the dining room from HGTV Dream Home 2015 is a bright, open area with stylish mixed seating and classic cottage charm.

The 16-foot-wide dining space in HGTVs Dream Home 2014 feels voluminous thanks to 10-foot-high walls and a steeply-pitched ceiling featuring exposed structural beams. A wall of windows overlooks the front yard and floods the room with natural light. As interior designer Linda Woodrum chose fabrics for this room with a view, she was careful to stick with subtle patterns and solids that didn't compete with the outdoors. The flowy white draperies are mounted at the top of the wall in order to draw the eye up. A traverse rod operates on a pulley system to allow for easy adjustment.

A braided rug anchors the dining area, where a trestle-style table, fashioned from mindi wood, becomes its own focal point. The vintage styling of all-weather woven armchairs recalls turn-of-the-century wicker patio furniture and when paired with modern upholstered side chairs lends visual interest.

Stepped out from the kitchen and surrounded by three walls of windows, the HGTV Dream Home 2012 dining area provides an almost outdoor dining experience. Bold ikat upholstered chairs and oversized windsor end chairs add visual interest.

When you have a view like this one, you wouldn't want to obscure it with over-sized opulent furniture. In the dining room at HGTV Dream Home 2011, this 9-foot Appalachian cherry table provides elegance and functionality without obstructing the view. The chrome and leather seats are streamlined and adjustable adding boldness to the space while the three glass cloche chandeliers and glass candle holders add character without blocking the immaculate view and providing elegant dining.

The HGTV Dream Home 2010 dining room table and chairs parallel the wood ceiling and outline the clean, sparse lines of this contemporary space.

Inviting and elegant, the HGTV Dream Home 2009 dining room presents a signature art piece and chandelier enhanced by warm taupe and firewood-red accents and color.

All about the views, the HGTV Dream Home 2008 dining area is centered on French doors looking out on the second floor patio and the Florida Bay beyond. High-backed chairs are upholstered in an elegant, yet casual, red coral fabric and an oversized copper light fixture hangs above the table and brings the outdoors in.

The HGTV Dream Home 2007 dining room features earth tones of chestnut and wheat balanced by cream seat cushions and bright dining ware. Even without its sweeping view of the wooded area outside, this is a magnificent room for entertaining guests, unwinding after work or having a family meal.

Tucked in a naturally lit nook, the HGTV Dream Home 2006 dining room offers an elegant retreat for family and guests. A floor-to-ceiling window "puts you right outside when you dine," says interior designer Linda Woodrum.

Inspired by the natural landscape outside the HGTV Dream Home 2006, Linda chose woodsy browns, greens and creams to dominate the dining area with splashes of red and gold. The round dining table displays a charismatic centerpiece and offsets beautiful artwork.

This rustic dining room is an extension of the great room in HGTV Dream Home 2005. A 10 foot long old lumber dining table and a mixture of traditional dining chairs with arm chairs brings an unexpected touch to a shabby chic space. All told, the dining space is perfect for formal entertaining, but with an easy, put-your-feet-up sensibility guests will embrace.

Grand windows and cascading draperies on each of the corner walls flood the dining room with natural light and bring the grass and marsh practically indoors.

The design of the HGTV Dream Home 2004 dining room uses wainscoting to contrast boldly against the brown walls, while an antique mirror adds depth and personality to the space.
