A Jersey Shore Makeover

With a renovation budget of $30,000, Pennsylvania couple Jamie and Emily hired Emily's uncle to manage the contract work on their three-bedroom vacation home near the Jersey Shore, focusing their attention on the kitchen, living room and outdoor space.

Though most of the kitchen fixtures and design were great as-is, a wall separating it from the living room made it feel closed off and uninviting.

Despite the house having a sizable patio along the side, the only way to access it was to climb over landscaping from the front entrance. Jamie and Emily decided to add a sliding door and deck from the dining room down to the new patio below.
