Monica Pedersen Bio

Monica Pedersen, co-host of HGTV Dream Home Giveaway 2011, grew up in the world of home repair and remodeling, absorbing her father's handyman skills, as well as her mother's talents with a sewing machine. This designer, lifestyle expert and television host developed a passion for beautiful textiles while traveling the world as a successful fashion model and incorporates what she calls her "fabric obsession" into most of her designs. On HGTV's Designed to Sell, Monica is a trusted expert showing viewers how to add value to their homes while working within a budget and encourages homeowners to use their creativity.
Monica's design talents have received national attention on Live with Regis and Kelly, the Today show, Domino magazine and the Chicago Tribune. In addition to overseeing the renovation of The Deer Path Inn — a designated Historic Hotel of America located in Lake Forest, Ill. — Monica also is a spokesperson for the National Home Furnishings Association and a member of the Sustainable Green Furnishings Council.
When Monica is not in front of the camera or working with private clients, she donates her services to various charities. She recently remodeled the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center and designed rooms in the Lake Forest Infant Welfare Showcase House. Active in her community, Monica serves on the executive committee of the Guild Board of the Lyric Opera of Chicago; the Advisory Board of the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center; and volunteers with the L.O.S.S. program of Chicago.
