Basic Before

The original deck was small and boring. A stairway led to the lawn and tiny concrete patio.

Double Decker Outdoor Space

For this outdoor makeover, two outdoor levels became possible because of a room addition: one above and one directly outside. A beautiful pergola over the grilling station adds a Mediterranean touch to this charming outdoor space.

Upper Level Dining

A large upper-level deck with railing accommodates a small dining table beneath an umbrella. It's the perfect place to enjoy a beverage with friends in the shade.

Ideal Outdoor Dining

This fabulous outdoor space includes a cooking station with grill, refrigerator and smoker, which is set in stacked stone beside a large dining table. A chandelier hangs from the pergola – a great asset for dining at dusk.

Smart Flooring

From this screened porch, you can see that the floor of this cooking/dining terrace is paved in flagstone to provide a low-maintenance surface that won’t need re-grouting or cleaning.

Outdoor Retreat

This transitional outdoor space was screened and fitted with a fan to be a retreat on hot days. It’s used almost nine months of the year for reading and relaxing.
