Pattern Packed With Personality
Designed for a family who loves color and pattern, the foyer of this home packs a punch with a trellis-patterened wallpaper adorning the walls and ceiling.
Complementary Accents
The wallpaper is balanced by monochromatic furniture and artwork. Here, a gray dresser and white wall hangings are ideal complements, crisp and clean.
Personal Design
"(The homeowner) really wanted to make sure we were showing each of their personalities in the design rather than designing for the masses," says Joel Snayd, principal at interior architecture firm Rethink Design Studio. "She was like, 'This is our home. I want it to be for us.'"
River Views
The home enjoys views of the Herb River in Savannah through the French doors in the living room. Light, neutral colors on the walls, ceiling and window treatments minimize distractions from the serene surroundings outside.
Light and Lively
The height of the vaulted ceiling is accentuated by trusses and a sculptural chandelier. The decor style is kept vibrant and fresh with pops of color and graphic patterns livening up the predominantly gray and white palette.
Design in the Details
Pattern isn't limited to fabrics and wallcoverings. This structural bookshelf and the items it contains mimic the shaply patterns seen in fabrics and finishes around the living room.
Crisp, White Kitchen
Strong veining in the marble countertops and backsplash introduce visual interest in the crisp, white kitchen. Ebony-stained pine floors ground the space.
Dining With a View
Delicate blown-glass pendant lights bring an ethereal touch to the dining area, which also enjoys views of the Herb River. Large family photos personalize the space.
Big and Bold
With encouragement from the homeowners, Rethink Design went big and bold in the home office with a mix of striking patterns and pops of hot pink. A white rug, soft gray cabinetry and clear accent tables help anchor the space.
Balancing Act
The scale of the hot pink sofa balances the mix of prints in the lively home office.
Touch of Masculine Design
Darker accent shades and clean lines offer a more masculine approach in the study while complementing the design choices throughout the home.
Design Continuity
A strong wallpaper pattern in a subtle shade paired with a marble vanity echoes the material choices throughout the first floor of the home.
Teen Chic
Well-tailored furniture and trim set an mature tone for the bedroom of a teenage daughter, while a soft, feminine palette and fun patterns keep the space age-appropriate.
Balancing Maturity and Youthfulness
A mix of traditional and contemporary patterns help balance maturity and youthfulness.
Tailoring Touches
For tailored panache, tweed fabric covers the doors of the built-in wardrobe.
Serenity, Now
What was once an unpleasant, cave-like bathroom is now a serene space. Rethink Design raised the ceiling and added skylights to make it more inviting.
Making Space
Glass shelves and a mirror in back make this bathroom cabinet feel endlessly spacious. Baskets and a tray help to corral smaller items and cut down on clutter.
Grand Master
Rethink Design vaulted the ceiling of the master bedroom into the attic space above to create a grand retreat for the homeowners. A mix of patterns in a neutral color palette maintains a calm and restful feel.
Walk-In Luxury
The master suite includes a luxurious dressing room which continues the color story from the bedroom.
Custom Closet
Custom cabinetry keeps the dressing room neat and organized, making it a space worth showing off rather than hiding behind closed doors.
A Bathroom With a View
Rather than a mirror, the vanity in the master bathroom is crowned by a wall of windows with a view of the Herb River. Mirrors attached to the side walls with swing arms are available when needed.
Modern and Pure
One wall in the shower is clad with the same wood that trims the vanity and the ceiling. "We went really modern and pure in this space," says Joel Snayd.
Cohesive Design
Personal items are tucked out of site to keep from distracting from the clean, modern aesthetic of the bathroom. The colors and finishes of the cabinetry and wall echo the design seen throughout the master suite.
