Before: Outdated Kitchen
This family of six was desperate for a kitchen that was functional. The dated wood and lack of family gathering space made it perfect for a remodel and fresh color scheme.

After: Sophisticated White Kitchen
Brilliant white cabinetry is paired with black pulls and knobs for a bold contrast. Designer Kari Arendsen brings in touches of rustic charm with a wood beam across the range hood and an industrial pendant.

Functional and Stylish Island
A large island is the centerpiece of the kitchen, providing extra counter space for preparing meals. With two dogs and a cat, it was also important to incorporate their needs, so food and water bowls are built into the end of the island.

Stunning Statement Piece
Though initially Kari was hesitant about using a 60-inch stove in the smaller kitchen, she and the homeowners were happy with the result. Combined with a blue trellis-patterned backsplash, the stove becomes a grand focal point of the kitchen.

After: Perfect for Entertaining
A built-in banquette makes a dramatic statement and, combined with the new bar area and stools, provides plenty of seating for the family and for entertaining. An armoire helps to transition the kitchen to the dining area and allows family dishes to be viewed and accessed for parties.
