An oval kitchen island is the perfect shape for the not-so-wide kitchen. There's plenty of room at one end for seating (in the form of whimsical barstools). Doors on the side of the island are hidden by the custom-designed fluting.

Color pulls the newly designed kitchen and dining room together. Dining room walls and cabinets are covered in soft pink. The shade is carried over into the kitchen with pink vintage Murano glass sconces from Italy and subtler touches like the dish towels. Green is another color theme.

White Contemporary Chef Kitchen With Fluted Island

While the homeowners wanted to keep the kitchen's original footprint and chef-grade appliances, they also wanted more storage and flair. Designer Gabriela Eisenhart of Silo Studios switched out countertops for marble and refinished the existing cabinets. She also had a new island custom made with a fluted, pale green base.

The homeowner's own Dolly Parton artwork hangs on the wall of the newly designed dining room. Custom built cabinetry offers new pantry storage and a new bar complete with wine refrigerator. New lighting, wallpaper, and window treatments complete the space.
