The Chinese Coromandel screen behind the canopied bed is one of the stars of the room. The play of white against black further makes the bed the focal point of the room.
The Right Storage Space
Designer Cecilie Starin had a small closet in the bedroom transformed into a built-in bookcase. It’s the perfect spot for display and storing some books by the writing table.
A Luxe Color Palette
The mix of art and antiques, in a palette of golds, blacks, beige, and white, help give this master bedroom a luxurious style.
A Bedroom's Writing Table
A closet was transformed into a bookcase and provides a backdrop to the writing table.
An Eclectic Glam Bedroom
The gilded sun mirror and white linens pop against the blacks in the floor screen and furniture.
What you don't see behind the bed is the old chimney flue and asymmetrically placed window. The Chinese screen, behind the canopy bed, hides them from view, since this was the one wall where the bed would work.
The new fireplace has an 18th century French style. It creates a cozy nook by the writing table and chairs.
Before the Remodel
The big windows in the study were one of the best parts of the space — everything else had to be updated for the remodel.
Blast from the Past
The Koa wood paneling in the study made the space feel small, dark, and dated. Designer Cecilie Starin did find creative ways to repurpose the wood paneling.
