Because the location of this home was on the side of a cliff overlooking the surrounding area, the designers wanted to emphasize the beautiful view. In doing so, they opened up the living room and kitchen, added several large windows to bring in the natural light and added a screened-in porch for comfortable outdoor seating.

Despite the facade's strong linear elements, the home sits on a steeply sloping lot. The only flat area was allocated to the carport. The floor plan was laid out in response to the natural features of the property and its orientation.

The main roof sheds to the south, providing maximum solar collection potential. Decks and screened-in porches along the south face also provide areas for outdoor entertaining and a means to capture prevailing breezes that blow up from the canyons below.
