Red Rose

Cultivated for more than 5,000 years, the rose is the granddaddy of them all when it comes to flower mythology. The red rose symbolizes love and beauty across many different cultures. A dozen may be the standard, but sending ten says “you’re perfect,” 15 is a plea for forgiveness, and 50 is a promise of unconditional love.

Rose 'Crimson Glory'

Winner of the James Alexander Gamble Rose Fragrance Medal in 1961, 'Crimson Glory' bears blooms of deep, velvety red. Displayed here in a child's wagon with other antique roses, 'Crimson Glory' is an easy-to-train climber.

Grow floribunda 'Obsession' as a tree rose or bush. It matures to 3 ½ feet high by 3 feet wide, with vibrant red flowers and glossy, dark green leaves.

Red Roses

Red roses and greenery may feel too much like Christmas. Leave the leaves out for a simple and stunning bouquet.

'Benjamin Britten'

English rose-master David Austin's red rose 'Benjamin Britten' (Ausencart) is a gorgeous addition to this landscape.

Hybrid Tea Roses Have Classic Fragrant Blooms

Hybrid tea roses are a cross between hybrid perpetuals and old fashioned tea roses. They generally produce only one blossom at the end of the stem, have an open habit, are repeat bloomers throughout the growing season, and offer some degree of fragrance.

'Walko' Rose

This floribunda rose has crimson blossoms and a heady fragrance but can be susceptible to diseases.

'Warrior' Rose

The 'Warrior' is a low-growing floribunda featuring blood-red blooms.

'Darcey Bussell' Rose

The 'Darcey Bussell' (Ausdecorum) is named for a principal dancer at the Royal Ballet and is one of renowned rose grower David Austin's favorite red roses.

'Showbiz' Rose

This gorgeous red rose is a real scene-stealer and is great as a hedge or border rose.

'Thomas a Becket'

This English rose, 'Thomas a Becket,' has a shrubby growth habit, more like a species rose than an old rose. The doubled flowers smell like lemon zest and vary from light to carmine red.

'Oso Easy Double Red'

Plant 'Oso Easy Double Red' roses in the landscape or mixed borders. The shrubs grow 3 to 4 feet tall and bear bright red, doubled flowers with pink-orange undertones from spring until frost.

Bouquet of Red Roses

Red roses are a universally understood sign of passionate love, and adding sweet white flowers to the mix signifies unity.

'Heathcliff' features large, fully double flowers of deep rosette shape as well as a deep crimson color. It has a Tea Rose mixed with an Old Rose scent with a hint of cedar wood.

Rose Explosion

This gorgeous bouquet from celebrated London florist McQueens relies as much upon the stems as the petals in this densely textured firework of red and plum roses.
