Nayara Springs (Arenal Volcano National Park, Costa Rica)

Although the secluded villas at the luxe, adults-only resort Nayara Springs are ensconced in Costa Rican rainforest, there's technically Wi-Fi at this hideaway — unless guests sign up for the Digital Detox package. Those who dare are invited to fork over tablets, smartphones and laptops to hotel staff and revel in the tech-free silence that results. Those feeling antsy without their gadgets can chill out with a 45-minute hot stone massage, daily meditation classes and a dip in the property's natural mineral hot springs jacuzzi.

BanuBanu Beach Resort (Bremer Island, Australia)

With a maximum occupancy of just 16 souls, BanuBanu Beach Resort in Australia's remote Bremer Island takes unplugging to a whole new level. There isn't any cell service on the island, rooms don't have televisions and all gadgets are solar-powered. Really need to make a call? Stand on a tall sand dune and hope for the best.

Rancho La Puerta (Tecate, Mexico)

Need a reset? The 4,000-acre Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico, offers a one-week fitness-and-relaxation program that aims to help guests recalibrate and recharge. There are no TVs or Wi-Fi in the rooms, with only a very limited amount cell service reserved for a handful of Internet-equipped lounges. Also, there's a strict no-cell-phone policy in all public areas. Still not quiet enough? Petit St. Vincent Island & Resort (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines)

On the southern tip of the Grenadines in the Caribbean, the lush 115-acre island of St. Vincent is home to Petit St. Vincent, a luxury resort with every amenity you can think of... except Wi-Fi. The exclusive retreat purposely nixed connectivity — there aren't televisions, either — to help guests unplug. Three Camel Lodge (Gobi Desert, Mongolia)

The closest Wi-Fi connection to Mongolia's Three Camel Lodge is 300 miles away in Ulaanbaatar, so there's zero chance of receiving a panicked email from your boss at 3 a.m. Located smack dab in the middle of the Gobi Desert, the property's handsome traditional dwellings, or gers, are handmade with latticed wood and covered with layers of felt and canvas. Opening June 1, 2021.

The Ranch Malibu (Malibu, California)

With zero cellular service on premises and scant Wi-Fi available on a strictly limited basis, the Ranch Malibu is the place to tune out life's stresses and tune into yourself. Spanning 200 acres in the Santa Monica Mountains, the Ranch sits three miles above the Pacific Ocean and is home to an organic garden, pool and jacuzzi, and "Buddha Barn" yoga studio. But you won't just be sitting around here: Stays include eight hours of low impact activity a day, including a four-hour group hike.

Mombo Camp (Okavango Delta, Botswana)

Run by ecotourism operator Wilderness Safaris, Mombo Camp in Botswana's Moremi Game Reserve is the perfect combination of far-flung luxury and authenticity. There's zero Wi-Fi here, which is all the better for fully taking in the area's abundant wildlife, which includes rhinos, lions and more.

Mfuwe Lodge (South Luangwa National Park, Zambia)

The Bushcamp Company runs this intimate getaway deep in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park. Mfuwe Lodge's 18 thatched-roof chalets are each outfitted with private covered verandas, perfect for observing the property's resident hippos, giraffes, buffalo, antelope and crocodiles at a close-but-safe distance. Wi-Fi is only available in select areas of the lodge, all the better for keeping your attention on the area's rich wildlife and off your phone. Pro tip: Come in November, when local elephants wander straight through the lobby — they're after the wild mango tree nearby.

Delfin Amazon Cruises (Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Peru)

Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is one of the world’s largest protected flooded forests, and home to the three ships in Delfin Amazon Cruises' fleet. Finished with details like hardwood floors, designer furniture and handmade Peruvian artifacts, these floating hotels offer some of the best views of the lush rainforest, pink river dolphins and breathtaking sunsets. There's no Wi-Fi onboard, which means fewer distractions from river kayaking, fishing for Amazonian catfish or walking on suspended bridges high in the forest canopy.
