A Rustic Wedding on a Colorado Farm

Casey and Matt married on August 17, 2018 on a beautiful, quaint farm in Lyons, Colo. — the same state the couple met and fell in love. Their wedding venue, The Lyons Farmette & River Bend, is an organic farm that also hosts weddings.

Greenhouse First Look

Casey and Matt didn't go with a conventional first look. Instead, they took advantage of the venue's greenhouse, which provided a lush green backdrop.

Vintage Airstream Bridal Suite

Just around the corner from the ceremony space is an Airstream bridal suite. The bridal party relaxed and celebrated the bride in the air-conditioned Airstream leading up to the ceremony.

Wildflowers Straight From the Farm

The Lyons Farmette has its own garden and farm, so all the florals were provided for through the venue. The bouquet flowers included dahlias and other wildflowers and were freshly picked and arranged the morning of the wedding.

Boutonnieres to Match

The boutonnieres also featured the venue's flowers.

Ceremony Flowers

The ceremony had an elegant, clean look with wooden chairs tied with bundles of the farm's fresh flowers.

Beautiful Signs

Since there were several other DIY elements to the wedding, the bride and groom decided to print ceremony and other signs at Kinkos for a cohesive look.

Wooden Ceremony Arbor

The venue's wedding team made this beautiful arbor the day of the wedding using materials on the site.

Communal Dinner

All the tables were connected at the reception dinner for a relaxed, casual feel and to allow for conversation flow amongst guests.

Sentimental Centerpieces

The centerpieces were kept small and low to allow for easy conversation. The bride's father cut wood slices from a tree in the front yard of the bride's childhood home. Wildflowers, floating votives and table numbers complete the look.

DIY Fabric Napkins

The bride's family made fabric napkins by simply cutting yards of vintage-inspired fabric with pinking shears. The bride and groom provided bamboo cutlery for a more eco-friendly reception.

Vintage Pickup Truck Photo Display

The bride and groom made great use out of a vintage green pickup truck on the site. Here, they displayed photos of their favorite memories on the wood rails using twine and miniature clothespins.

Bug-Free Station

A bug-free station helped protect guests from mosquitos.

Hydration Station

Guests could help themselves to cold water on the tailgate of the truck while admiring photos from the couple's engagement shoot.

Wedding Favor Station

At the end of the night, the water station was moved and switched to the wedding favor area.

Sweet DIY Wedding Favors

The bride's mother made her mother's apple butter recipe for each guest and included a Love Is Sweet label and topped it with the same fabric used on the napkins.

Dessert Table

The bride and groom wanted to provide a variety of desserts for their guests, so they opted for a smaller cake and a plethora of miniature desserts instead of a big wedding cake.

Mini Apple Pies

Guests could satisfy their sweet tooths with some mini apple and pumpkin pies and cupcakes in several flavors.

Home State Cake Toppers

The cake was topped with toppers (from Etsy) in the shape of the bride's and groom's home states. The couple used wood-carved knives (also from Etsy) to cut the cake. Cake by The Dessert Stand

Bar Sign

Printed signs around the venue brought a cohesive look while providing important information to guests. This large sign features the bride's and groom's signature drinks (which is definitely very important information).

Places to Lounge

Guests had plenty of places to relax on dance breaks. This blush pink velvet sofa fit perfectly with the vintage, rustic theme of the wedding.

Furry Guests

Humans weren't the only guests at the wedding. Alpacas, llamas, hens and goats were just footsteps away from the reception. Guests could visit and feed the friendly farm animals.

Feeding the Farm Animals

The bride and groom took a break from visiting with guests to feed the farm animals for a great photo op (When else can you feed goats in a wedding dress?).

Happily Ever After

After a day filled with family, friends, food — and farm animals, the couple is ready for their happily ever after.
