Elegant Farmhouse in Columbia County Hills
This Georgia-style farmhouse has an elegant exterior and beautiful mountain surroundings, so to replicate this natural beauty on the interior of the home, Ascher Davis Architects created a design that capitalized on the home's setting. Designers chose a modern look that was less fussy and formal than the initial design. It included simple, elegant trim work and a neutral color palette that would bring the lush green colors of the outside indoors. This way, the entire home would function as a piece of the mountains.

Farmhouse With Raised Beds Around Pool
The exterior of this home is reminiscent of a Georgia farmhouse, so as a nod to this design and to help the family's sustainability, designers created raised bed gardens around the pool. Now, the family can enjoy the Southern air while growing their own herbs and vegetables for their kitchen.

Pool Area Blends Into Hillside
To capitalize on the incredible view these homeowners have in their backyard, designers created a simple, elegant design for the family's outdoor space. Designers wanted the backyard to feel as if it were an uninterrupted part of the hills that surround it, so the pool's shape is a straight rectangle that draws the eye to the hills. Stone tiles are laid at the front of the outdoor space for safety, but grass picks up about a quarter of the way down the length of the pool, making the area blend into the mountains beyond. So that the family can enjoy their space, designers created a lounge area and a dining area, making this space the perfect place for relaxation and play in these beautiful NY hills.

Sitting Area and Dining Area on Farmhouse Back Porch
On the back porch, the family has a great space for entertaining and spending time with each other. An extra large sectional sofa sits in front of a beautiful stone fireplace that provides plenty of heat on cool fall nights in New York. There is also a dining area on the back porch so that the homeowners can enjoy their beautiful mountain views while eating a good meal.

Modern Sitting Area and Breakfast Nook in Florida Room
To allow the homeowners to make the most of their amazing mountain views, they created a sitting area and breakfast nook in the Florida room of this Georgia-style farmhouse. Similarly to the rest of the house, this Florida room has a neutral color palette and modern design which reflect the countryside around it. Wall to wall windows and elegant French doors allow in tons of natural light, while the colors in the space reflect the green of the trees, making the room feel as if it truly is a part of nature.

Living Room's Neutral Color Palette Reflects the Natural Beauty of the Surrounding Mountains
Designers wanted to capitalize on the beautiful mountain views outside the windows, so they kept the interior design neat, crisp and simple, yet still elegant. The living room in this space is no exception to that vision. Lots of windows allow plenty of natural light into the space, allowing patrons of the room to see outdoors to the beautiful mountain views. The light reflects off the gray walls, bringing the natural green tint of the trees indoors. Blue and gray furniture occupies this space and highlights the natural hues of the mountainside, making the living room feel as if it were a part of the mountains that surround it.

Elegant Modern Kitchen Design
Designers wanted the kitchen to be both elegant and functional, so they continued the modern look into this space. Clean lines and sharp edges keep the room looking clean and neat, while the blue-gray tile and rich hardwood floor make the space warm and inviting. To accommodate the homeowners' everyday as well as entertaining needs, designers included plenty of prep and storage space with counters and cabinets on two walls of the space and a large kitchen island with an eat in option. To add to the elegance of the space, designers added stainless steel appliances and stainless steel pendant lights, giving the room a little extra sparkle that highlights the natural light that comes in through the door and windows.
