A Handmade Treehouse Inspired a Luxury Vacation Destination
High on a ridge in southeast Tennessee is a one-of-a-kind vacation destination called Bolt Farm Treehouse. What started as a private treehouse in South Carolina built for founders Seth and Tori Bolt's honeymoon soon turned into something much bigger. "When we realized how magical the experience is and how good it is for the soul, we decided to open it to the public," says Seth. Book your stay at Bolt Farm Treehouse to experience it for yourself.

Satellite Imagery Revealed an Ideal Spot for a Vacation Getaway
The newlyweds soon set about finding the ideal property for their treehouse venture. The spot they landed on, which they discovered in an unconventional way, overlooks a vast expanse of land known as the Sequatchie Valley. "We were looking for a mountaintop property in Tennessee and Seth spotted this rare rift valley while looking on Google Earth," explains Tori.
Unobstructed Views of the Sequatchie Valley Make This a Can't-Miss Spot
Known for its stunning vistas and high rock faces, it's easy to see what drew the Bolts to the Sequatchie Valley. The decision was a no-brainer. "We knew this was the place the first time we stepped foot on the property and soaked in that incredible view of the Sequatchie Valley," says Tori. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the area is conveniently located to Nashville, Knoxville, Atlanta and Birmingham, making it less than half a day's drive from millions of people.
Luxurious Amenities and Stunning Views Make This Travel Destination Unlike Any Other
Seth and Tori are serious about making Bolt Farm Treehouse a step above any other getaway. "I would say the top three things that set us apart from other treehouses and glamping companies are our level of luxury, world-class hospitality and our second-to-none views," notes Tori. "When it comes to offering luxury amenities, we hold nothing back. Each guest has a private terrace with its own hot tub, BBQ, pizza oven, fire pit — and the list goes on and on."
A Childhood Dream of a Treehouse Is Fulfilled in a Major Way
A re-creation of the treehouse Seth and Tori spent their honeymoon in, The Honeymoon Treehouse boasts the best views and the highest level of privacy available on the property. "It was inspired by love! Growing up, I always wanted a treehouse. In 2015, I finally made that childhood dream come true by building one with my dad for my and Tori's wedding day," shares Seth. "We had our first look and embarked on our honeymoon there, and that’s when we decided to pursue this dream together of creating handcrafted, inspiring environments and experiences that help people reconnect with nature, their people and their purpose."
Antiques and Unique Decor Make This Treehouse Whimsical and Fun
A step inside unveils a whimsical interior that feels isolated from the rest of the world. "We wanted to make it feel like a time capsule, so we filled each room with antiques and decor that make it feel not only relaxing but timeless," Seth explains. "We work really hard to make sure everything is unique and experiential, avoiding designs and items that you would commonly see at home or in a residential setting."
A Two-Story Window Wall Frames the Valley Views Outside
While the interior itself is beautiful and carefully curated, the overall goal was to frame the views outside. "The interiors are designed to make you feel larger than life and to make nature the star of the show," says Seth. "That’s why you’ll see a two-story window wall in the domes and treehouses and floor-to-ceiling windows in the Mirror Cabins." The Bolts sourced vintage windows with wavy glass to enhance the whimsical, dollhouse feel of The Honeymoon Treehouse.
Romance Was the Ultimate Inspiration for This Treehouse Escape
As the name suggests, "The interior design of The Honeymoon Treehouse was inspired by the goal of creating the ultimate escape for lovers where romance abounds from floor to ceiling," notes Tori. "You’ll find Victorian and French-country design elements throughout, vintage love letters and the sexy oversized hand-hammered copper tub for two in the main room."
A Kitchenette Allows Guests to Make Meals Right Inside the Treehouse
A quaint French-country-meets-farmhouse kitchenette with rustic open shelving and an apron sink ensures guests never have to step foot off the property once they check in, allowing them to uninterruptedly bask in the otherworldly atmosphere of the treehouses.
This Private Terrace Is Filled With Spots to Rest and Relax
Just outside The Honeymoon Treehouse is a private terrace with an outdoor shower, a hot tub and a canopy bed, where couples can relax beneath the stars.
A Cozy Cafe Table Is Perfectly Positioned for Admiring the View
A petite cafe table positioned at the corner of the terrace makes for a cozy spot to enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner with a view or sip your first cup of coffee above the clouds.
A Larger Treehouse Is Great for Big Groups and Families
The second treehouse on the property, known as The Friends & Family Treehouse, is an ideal spot for guests in need of more space. Featuring the signature pentagonal shape and half-cove shingles, it's essentially a scaled-up version of The Honeymoon Treehouse.
Handmade Bunk Beds Hold King-Sized Mattresses
This larger treehouse is built to accommodate groups and families, featuring hand-built king-sized bunk beds, a larger kitchen and dining area and a bigger, private bathroom.
These Geodesic Domes Are Like Penthouse Suites With a Spectacular Woodsy View
In search of a spot even more unique than a treehouse? Head to the luxurious geodesic domes at Bolt Farm Treehouse, which Tori describes as like "staying in a penthouse suite above the clouds."
Unique Geometric Design Gives Domes Surprising Strength
The shape of the geodesic domes is formed with steel brackets arranged in triangles and wrapped in isinglass, which is a clear window material made from crystallized minerals cut into thin transparent sheets. This unique construction makes them surprisingly strong and aerodynamic.
Unique Architecture Calls for Thoughtful Interior Design
Due to their unique shape, the interior design of the domes differs from that of the treehouses. "We applied the same thoughtfulness and principles we used in the treehouses, but made some slight changes to accommodate the unique dome shape," explains Seth. "With the exception of the bed, which is placed in the center of the room for the primo view, all furnishings and amenities line the perimeter of the dome."
These Clear Domes Are Designed to Maintain Guests' Privacy
You may not think a clear dome perched on a mountaintop is the pinnacle of privacy, but Seth and Tori have taken steps to make it a priority. "We designed and placed the domes with our guests' privacy in mind, using various approaches to allow them to connect with nature, yet still have their desired level of privacy," says Seth. "A few examples include the shower curtains for the outdoor shower, as well as the interior curtains to cover the window wall and the exterior custom-made privacy walls on both sides of the deck."
Luxurious Domes Make for a Fun Vacation Experience
"I’m always giddy to stay in the domes!" Tori beams. "There’s something about it that releases your inner child and makes you want to color, dance in the kitchen and make a homemade pizza." The property houses eight domes total, with some being XL domes which sleep up to four people, have larger hot tubs and are positioned with better views.
A Two-Tiered Deck Is a Private Spot to Relax
Outside each dome is a two-tiered deck with a hot tub, outdoor shower, farm table, canopy bed and more. The walls surrounding the deck are designed to offer privacy without sacrificing the views of the valley.
These Reflective Cabins Are the First of Their Kind in the US
Alongside the idyllic treehouses and geodesic domes, Bolt Farm Treehouse now offers luxurious Mirror Cabins. Popular in Europe, these reflective cabins are the first of their kind in the States. "In keeping with our sustainable, low-impact tourism model and mission to help guests feel 'immersed in nature and surrounded by comfort,' [the Mirror Cabins] stretch this concept to the next level by disappearing into their surroundings," explains Tori. "At the same time, they provide total privacy and unencumbered panoramic views of nature," she adds. While the cabins are reflective in the day, guests can draw blackout curtains for complete privacy at night.
A Clever Shower Design Makes You Feel Like You're Showering in the Woods
Each Mirror Cabin is outfitted with luxe furnishings, heated floors, A/C, kitchenettes and rainfall showers. The shower's floor-to-ceiling windows and epoxied river rock floor make you feel like you're showering in the middle of the forest.
