Fresh and Modern

An attractive blush tone for the ceiling was used as the accent in this fresh and modern home office with white walls, lots of natural light, midcentury-style desk, stylish seating and handy storage.

Trendy Seating

The adjustable height white faux-leather office chair on wheels at the desk has a beautiful silver metallic finish, with a steel frame for durability and a curved padded back for comfort.

Rustic Touch

The home office’s midcentury, industrial-style desk has a rustic gray driftwood finish and black metal frame, with four spacious drawers.

Store Supplies

The roomy desk drawers offer storage space for office supplies like pencils and notepads, and products for hanging.

Colorful Details

Under the desk sits a large cotton and wool upcycled patchwork rug made from old and used handmade traditional Anatolian carpets with different shades like raspberry, blue, brown and gray. Two retro faux-fur pink accent chairs with metal legs for visitors at the desk coordinate with the room’s blush ceiling.

Chic Chandelier

An impressive industrial-style, six-light black steel chandelier with clear globe shades provides illumination and brings the drama over the desk area, with a modern form that complements urban industrial and bohemian styles.

Touch of Personality

The home office’s midcentury-modern style desk includes an open outward-facing bookshelf for favorite books, white ceramic vases for pens and pencils, and decorative accessories that add personality and texture to the space.

Light-Filled Space

This home office with a trendy vibe includes three upgraded windows. Two fixed windows are located on the wall behind the desk, with this additional operable window next to the chimney that lets fresh air inside. All three windows include white light-filtering cellular shades that offer some privacy and help reduce the cost of the home’s annual energy bill.

Bold Statement

A modern interpretation of a gallery wall with a curated selection of playful art makes a bold statement in this user-friendly space that combines function with style.

Artistic Space

The gallery wall of this home office is covered with different types of art. “There’s a combination of photography and graphic art in here, and also textile art,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Fit Your Mood

A selection of floating picture ledges with a glossy white finish offer the chance to take art on and off and switch things up based on your mood and the season.

Smart Layout

This look from the desk shows the ebony-stained oak wood door that opens to the stair landing that connects this home office to the guest bedroom, guest bathroom and master suite. All of these key spaces are located on the second floor of this extensively remodeled urban home.

Top-Notch TV

A 50-inch smart TV was added on one wall of the office, so you can catch up on the latest news or stream photos to the screen for your next meeting at home.

Scandinavian-Style Storage

A white and walnut wood wardrobe cabinet with a splayed frame is located where a traditional closet once sat in the home office. “The old closet stuck out and really protruded into the room,” says build manager Dan Faires. “It was the first thing you saw.”

Multifunctional Cabinet

With the doors to the wardrobe cabinet open, you can see the sturdy crossbar for hanging bags and jackets, an upper shelf for smaller items, and the cabinet’s lower shelf with a basket for extra pillows or a throw blanket for chilly days and nights.

Get Crafty

The two full-extension drawers on the bottom of the unit offer space for crafting, candle-making and sewing supplies, perfect for when cold Minnesota winter days mean more leisure time inside.

Urban Element

The home office includes an architectural feature in the middle of the room, a brick chimney that was painted white like the walls. “We kept the brick because of the texture,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn. “And because it’s HGTV Urban Oasis, we like the idea of a little bit of an urban element in here.”
