Bright, Eclectic Living Room With Exposed Ceiling Beams

A sofa draped in white blankets matches the bright white look of the walls and ceiling in this small and stylish living room. The black floor is a lovely, bold contrast. A striped runner follows the flow of the floor and aims toward a leaning ladder adorned with textiles. A gorgeous shell chandelier adds a unique detail, while plants add vibrant, natural color.

Stone Wall Adds Color and Texture to Eclectic Living Room

The stone wall of the living room helps provide texture to the space while bringing in the colors of the desert. This helps create the indoor-outdoor design the homeowners hoped for.

Bright, Bohemian-Style Sitting Area With Fern

This sitting area is boho chic with layers of colorful fabrics and pillows, a basket for storage and a richly textured wall hanging.

Australian Home With Artistic Touches

"Light and airy" is how designer Sally Carson describes this living space in a newly renovated home in Australia, which features hardwood flooring, off-white walls, a brushed-chrome ceiling fan, and off-white upholstery. "Although quite a neutral palette, pops of color are introduced in the eclectic furnishings such as the industrial style coffee table and the large artwork by indigenous Australian artist Betty Club-Mbitjana," says Carson.

Neutral Bohemian Living Room With Houseplant

The designers of this bohemian living room let nature supply the main color, primarily via a large houseplant. The rug's slim stripes pull the eye across the room.

Contemporary Living Room With Southwestern Influence

The view into the living room area displays the white-on-white texture of unbleached macrame fiber art on the white ship lap. The coffee table is a DIY — a broken clock face transformed into a live edge table with hair pin legs. A tall floor lamp arches over the large brown leather sectional.

Crisp White Eclectic Living Room

A pair of wood and leather armchairs combines with a contemporary white sofa and geometric glass coffee table. An oversized piece of abstract art makes a bold statement on the white wall.

Eclectic Contemporary Gray Living Room

Layered textures in muted hues give this living space a tactile warmth and softness. Ceiling beams painted a dusty pale rose visually lower the ceilings, creating a cozy, bohemian vibe.

Contemporary Living Room With Bohemian Art

Designer Sarah Stacey adds an unexpected touch to this contemporary, bohemian living room by hanging a multicolored rug on the wall. The piece makes an easy focal point to the room and accents the simple blue sofa.

Boho Sitting Room With Hanging Chair

A hanging chair is an iconic choice for Bohemian style. It also frees up floor space.

Multicolored Eclectic Sitting Room With Zebra Rug

This whimsical living room embraces the rainbow with bold layers of bright colors, patterns and exotic elements like the zebra rug.

White Eclectic Great Room With Ladder Shelf

Matching batik armchairs are flea market finds that add a collected, bohemian look. Ladder shelves fill in a large blank wall with sculptural, thrifted finds that inject whimsy and personality into this space.

White and Blue Bohemian Coastal Living Room With Fireplace

Crisp white walls replaced busy wood paneling here for a refreshing, more modern look. Various types of seating, including a corner window seat, create an eclectic, cozy, comfy area for entertaining or relaxing with family. A ceiling-height wall niche houses stacked firewood, serving as both a practical and aesthetic element.

Neutral Family Room Pops With Bold Colors

In the family room, bright yellow curtains and bold, patterned pillows help make this neutral space pop.

Eclectic Living Room With Green Accent Wall

Several patterns and a rich color scheme were the focus of designer SuzAnn Kletzien's plan for this eclectic living room. A vibrant green accent wall frames the bay window area, while a brick wall provides a rustic edge behind a soft black chenille sofa. Kletzien paired together a black vintage Persian rug with two other rugs, including one with a modern blue and white chevron design, to create a layered look.

A Balancing Act of Pattern and Palette

To give the living room of a home in the hip Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles an energetic update, designer Breeze Giannasio focused her design around the spectacular textile hanging above the sofa. Working within the gold, fuschia, and gray color palette of the wall hanging she added layers of texture—the intricate carpet, the lush upholstery, the sleek coffee table—at every level. Balancing all this rich interest is the simplicity of the space and of all the furnishings: Their spare, modern lines keep the exotic patterns and colors from becoming overwhelming. Instead, the effect is fresh and fun.

Inspiration in Old Santa Fe

Giving a 200-year-old home in historic Old Santa Fe, New Mexico a clean, contemporary look—without sacrificing its authentic character—is a challenge the designers at Samuel Design don’t take lightly. To strike just the right note, they worked with a light touch, allowing the lines of the architecture to guide them, and keeping the color palette quiet—introducing a few high spots of warm color and rich texture through accessories and artwork.

Gray and White Apartment Living Room

In a smaller space, keeping the color palette simple can give the impression of a more expansive footprint. Case in point: this sophisticated, gray and white apartment living room. "Our goal for this project and client was to create a living space that is modern with a touch of bohemian," says designer Nina Jizhar. "We used mainly neutrals (greys with black and white) but layered them with texture. Natural elements such as wood and brass add so much warmth to the space."

Glamorous Pale Pink Sofa in a Serene Space

A pale, pink sofa is the anchor in this glamorous room. These are essential to any well-designed space, but they're especially important in a room with so many disparate parts. Paying special attention to fundamental principles helps ensure that each element feels like part of the whole.

Bohemian Living Room With Striking Modern Light Fixture

Colorful accents and layers of pattern create an eclectic and artful living room. A large light fixture helps to add drama to the space, while the open weave allows light to pass though and keeps the space feeling open and airy. The mix of colors and patterns are balanced out with clean modern lines and sleek, industrial metal accents.

Bohemian Living Room With Pink Patterned Wallpaper

This small space is packed with utility — and personality. Acting also as a work area/office and dining area, the living room features impactful and playful wallpaper, comfortable seating areas and a focus on the room's large window.

Midcentury Modern Loft With a Bohemian Twist

A multi-color striped rug and a green midcentury modern sofa stand out against the neutral color palette of this loft living space. The mesh of midcentury modern and bohemian design elements give the room personality while maintaining a clean and spacious finish. Wood beams create a natural room division and compliment the warm-tone stain of the hardwood floor.

Simple Loft Sitting Room Featuring Multicolor Rugs

Multicolor striped rugs bring a fun bohemian influence to this loft sitting space. Natural light from the windows keep the space bright and calm. Low furniture makes the room look spacious and open. A neutral backless bench and large houseplants fill the space.

Eclectic Living Room With Blue Velvet Sofa

Clean white walls and a vaulted ceiling give this living room a spacious and airy look. On either side of the fireplace, two woven chairs with faux-fur throws become stylish seats for guests. The real star of the space, though, is the blue velvet sofa, which ties the eclectic design together.

Eclectic Multicolored Living Room With Shag Rug

The style in this Austin apartment's living room is boho chic with a soft, shag rug, jade green tables and lots of colorful textiles.

Eclectic Living Room Complete With Soft Area Rug

With light streaming in from the windows and plants all along the wall, this soothing white living room feels so serene and natural. Patterned pillows and an area rug complete the space and ensure that it's totally comfortable.

Elegant Bohemian Living Room With Plenty of Seating

To create a central space for the homeowners that is both stylish and functional, designers added a large sectional for plenty of seating. Then, they added stylish details, such as the elegant, gray and white pattern Roman Shades, pattern pillows, artwork and coffee table to finish the design.

Multicolored Eclectic Sitting Area With Crocheted Rug

The home's driving color scheme is mostly cool: grays, blues and teals. Pops of bright pink and a few warmer colors (burgundy, magenta) are sprinkled in to add energy and dimension. This loft sitting area is a perfect example of the design's fun, bohemian nature with imaginative layering of texture and color.

Multicolored Eclectic Playroom With Orange Sofa

Neon colors splash out from the cozy, Moroccan rug in the kids' playroom. The whimsy is continued via the green bookshelf and plush sofa in cantaloupe orange.

Eclectic Living Room With Pink Sofa

Part of the home's quirky charm comes from its various levels. A sunken living room is deliciously full of soft poufs and pillows. The dining room is up above with a ladder leading intriguingly to yet a third level.

Bohemian Eclectic Living Room With Green Tables

Plenty of wood and natural fiber details keep a relaxed feel in this living room. The textiles have a bohemian flair with lots of color and fun accents, like fringe.

White Bohemian Sitting Room With Rattan Chairs

Rattan chairs with gathered string warm up this sitting area, bringing in natural texture and earthy tones. The neutral colors create a relaxing spot to unwind and watch the sun set through the large windows.

Open-Air Bohemian Parlor

The casual fabrics chosen for this parlor help create the laid-back, Bohemian look featured here. The linen sofa and throw pillows wear their soft crinkles well and give the space a devil-may-care appearance. Across the space, two linen chairs are positioned to add seating and maintain the space's vibe. The wicker rug below the sofa and chairs is built to sustain wear and tear, but also to give texture to the space, and the large, open window on the back wall gives patrons of this room the feeling of connecting with nature, while maintaining the luxuries of the indoors.

Thrifted Accessories Add Boho Interest

Give your sofa a new look by tossing one of your favorite throws or big pieces of fabric over its body. It's a quick fix with a big impact! Add colorful and textured pillows to complete the look.

Transitional Bohemian Living Room

This look is sleek and streamlined with teak furniture and simple patterns. After getting inspired by a vintage sofa, Emily Henderson custom built a tufted sofa that features high arms and a wood surround, but still has a low profile to keep the living room and dining room open concept. The walls are painted a warm, inviting gray.

Living Room With Bohemian Flair

A neutral vintage inspired sectional and jute rug comes to life with colorful textiles.

Bohemian Sitting Room With Hanging Chair

A soft shag rug (chic, too, with its pale gray pattern) and floor pillows make sprawling on the floor a delight. Or grab a seat in the hanging chair.

Bohemian Living Room With Unique Chandelier

A specially designed chandelier, a stenciled wall pattern, and a one-of-a-kind side chair give this living room a unique, cozy touch with exciting colors and expertly-blended patterns.
