In the Entry: Wooden Accents

We feel right at home stepping into HGTV host Chip Wade's woodsy entry — log walls and all. If you don't want to go total cabin-cool, try incorporating warm wood furnishings into your entry. Here, a dark wood console shelters a pair of comfy ottomans while displaying cozy accessories (books, plants and a super-cute mini globe).

In the Entry: Wallpaper

Make sure you pick a pattern you love. The Pink Clutch Blog author Paige Minear chose a Rifle Paper Co. print featuring warm tones and pretty florals. Her secret to cozy: "Mixing patterns is my thing, so I paired my wallpaper with leafy and flamingo prints," she says. FYI, if you don't want to splurge on real wallpaper, peel-and-stick is easier to install and budget-friendly.

In the Entry: An Oversized Mirror

“An enormous mirror can help a small area feel larger and a dark space appear lighter,” says blogger Sabrina Tan of Gypsy Tan, who hung a brass-framed one from CB2 in her entry. For extra texture, pair your mirror with a tasseled throw draped over a wicker basket or a colorful rug.

In the Living Room: A Fireplace Grate

And a fire, of course. To complement the calming flames, textile designer Erin Barrett doused her living room in golden, earthy shades — a cinnamon-color sofa by Gus Modern, a gold-toned side table and a bronze-finished fireplace screen from Kirkland’s. The look is, "pure, warm perfection," she says. "[The colors] bring fall coziness year-round. Pieces that make you happy are key for cozy.”

In the Living Room: Layered Rugs

Here's an extra-plush idea for bare toes: Los Angeles designer Barbie Palomino layered a vintage Moroccan rug over a neutral one. Her creation feels cozy and looks cozy. Plus, check out the sky-colored sofa. It's sprinkled with pillows — the easiest comfort boost around.

In the Living Room: Plants

Even better if your furnishings match them. At Charlotte's House author Charlotte Smith made her airy living room warm and homey with potted fiddle leaf figs and a velvet sofa from Ikea. More greenery — painted on the scroll art Charlotte found at a flea market — tops the design off. “It’s my go-to spot for a cup of coffee," she says.

In the Office: Floor-to-Ceiling Bookshelves

Nothing's cozier than a mini library — which is exactly what Nashville designer Hannah Crowell created in the niche next to her fireplace. Shelves, crafted from simple clear pine, hold her family's ever-expanding book collection. The colorful spines (and leather furnishings) create an oh-so inviting space.

In the Office: A Cushy Reading Chair

We love this super-comfy red one. Throw in a bookcase, a fireplace, rich blue walls and golden accents and you have what designer Amie Corley calls “cozy fixings.” Required: a swing-arm lamp (this one's by Visual Comfort) for catching every bit of a good book.

In the Office: A Gallery Wall

This one's made from kids' art. Personal touches automatically make a room more familiar — especially in a home office. If kids' art isn't your thing, try framing family photos or meaningful pieces of art. Uniform frames look clean, but don't be afraid to mix and match.

In the Kitchen: Warm-Toned Cabinets

Embrace shades of dark yellow. The bottom cabinets here are painted Honey Locust by Behr. Plot twist: they’re actually from the ’80s — a fresh coat of paint spiffed them right up. (For the smoothest result, always sand cabinets before painting.)

In the Kitchen: An Oriental Rug

Maybe the easiest perk-up of the bunch. Roll out a soft rug that complements your kitchen's aesthetic. This faded one from the Etsy shop Pink Vintage Rugs gives the charming space a timeworn vibe.

In the Dining Room: Faux Fur

Make your guests feel right at home with fuzzy throws. Drape them over dining chairs or benches. To set a moody ambiance, taper candles will do the trick. Here, crimson paint (Red Ochre by Valspar) brings warmth. “I chose a shade to amplify the wood tones throughout the room — it all feels very cozy,” says InsideWright designer Tobi Wright.

We all want to cozy up on the couch with a nice meal once a while, but why not make it a regular thing? "Matching chairs bore me," says Veronica Solomon. She comfy-ed up her dining table setup with a cool orange settee (complete with sink-into-your-seat inducing pillows).

In the Bedroom: Soft Pillows

“A mix of materials that inspires cuddling — like faux-fur, velvet and linen pillows — makes for a supremely cozy bed,” says designer Amy Kartheiser. “Without textured elements, a room can feel cold and sterile.” Luxe grass cloth wallpaper from Phillip Jeffries, a woven headboard, a polished brass lamp and fuzzy pillows blend for a style so soothing, Kartheiser says, “you may never want to leave.”

In the Bedroom: A Bold Accent Wall

Let the walls of your bedroom envelope you in a warm hug. The accent wall in this bedroom is actually black-painted shiplap (Iron Ore by Sherwin-Williams). We recommend trying a moody, bold shade you love (hunter green, navy blue, deep gray). For extra personality, hang framed art.

In the Bathroom: Rich Colors

Sure, you can go with whites and grays to make a bathroom feel all chill — or you could paint your vanity a lush, not-the-least-bit-subtle green. “The color brings the outside in, so it’s fresh and relaxing,” says designer Jasmin Reese. Here, she went with a modern farmhouse vibe, complete with shiplap painted black and barn-style sconces from Satco. It has the ahhh of a spa — and a dash of oooh, too.

In the Bathroom: Natural Textures

Airy and light can be cozy too — as long as there are natural materials in the mix. "Instead of bold motifs, I used textures as patterns,” says designer Gretchen Black, referring to the vintage cane chair, the vanity with bamboo detailing (she designed it!) and the rattan mirror in her bathroom. Another low-key touch: “striped” wallpaper (Gabrielle Stripe by Schumacher) that’s actually made up of tiny circles.
