Ben Napier Has a Secret Talent on the Set of ‘Home Town’
The Home Town co-host is as much a jokester as he is a woodworker.
The set of Home Town has everything: quaint small-town charm, heartwarming stories, amazing designs — and a comedian. Aside from his expert woodworking and furniture making skills, co-host Ben Napier has a special talent for bringing the fun to filming. Impressions, costumes, dad jokes — he really can do it all.
In a recent Instagram post, Ben showed off an auburn mullet wig and his new personality: a gutter expert named Ray Ray. His gutter “advice” and hilarious mannerisms left those on set laughing. In the post's comments, Ben's followers shared their thoughts on whether he was impersonating Billy Ray Cyrus, Keith Urban or Chip Gaines.
Hmmm. 🤔
Ben’s antics kept both the Season 6 crew on set and Home Town viewers off set entertained. The premiere episode kicked off with the design of an “analog room” full of vintage treasures, a smooth leather sofa and — Ben in a kilt.
“My typewriter, my record player and vinyls, my books and the fireplace make this room a perfect place to unplug,” said Ben in the episode. “Oh, and my mom finally made me a kilt. I think it pairs nicely with my Lucchese boots.”
Later in the season, Ben found inspiration for a butcher-block project in the form of Venetian gondolas. Of course, he took it a step further and donned his best Italian clothes — a striped T-shirt, red ascot and a flat straw hat — and enjoyed a bowl of pasta. “I really nerded out over the details of the construction of gondolas,” Ben told his followers on Instagram. So, what better way to enjoy his newfound love for Italian culture than pasta?
Even when there’s hard work, Ben knows how to keep things lighthearted and downright fun. Follow along for more of Ben’s silliness on Instagram at @scotsman.co. Catch new episodes of Home Town on HGTV Sundays at 8|7c — or stream old episodes on discovery+.
