How to Update Basic White Mugs With Ceramic Paint

The first step to creating large, pretty flowers is to paint an abstract, floral-type shape. You don’t need to get too detailed here, since we’ll add the detail with the paint marker.

Add Petals

Make your abstract floral shape very large, going off the top of the mug. Add a few more petals near the bottom of the mug. Tip: Use one color of paint per mug for a contemporary look, and try to create different abstract shapes for the flowers on each mug.

Let Dry

Let the paint fully dry.

Add Detail Work

When the paint is dry, go back with the paint marker and add an outline, leaves, stamen and petals to your flowers.

Cure Your Designs

Follow the directions on your ceramic paints to cure your mugs in the oven. This process makes the paints and marker permanent.
