Distinctive Look

This timeless style home and detached garage were given a distinctive look. “The exterior stands out from most of the houses here because it’s painted a really calming shade of blue, with navy-blue shutters, all white trim and a charcoal shingle roof,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Sturdy and Stylish

The sturdy white garage doors are made with insulated steel construction. The doors were designed to resemble the elegant wood designs of traditional carriage house doors, and their classic style helps enhance the architectural beauty of the property.

Extra Entertaining Space

Much more than a place to park a car, this detached garage with pool table inside offers a spot for casual get togethers. “The idea is to go ahead and open the detached garage, and be able to just entertain in the front yard as much as you do in the backyard,” says designer Brain Patrick Flynn.

Get Your Golf Cart

The detached garage includes a bay designed for parking a golf cart, which locals in the gated communities on Hilton Head Island use to get around the area. “They don’t really drive their car from house-to-house, they drive their golf cart,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Local Flavor

The overall color scheme for this impressive home that sits on a marsh was inspired by the beautiful coastal location of this popular South Carolina destination, with rich lime green, deep blue and brown-gray colors.

Relax and Unwind

The six white indoor/outdoor wooden rocking chairs with sturdy wood composition offer classic porch seating. The weather resistant and easy-to-clean rocking chairs with armrests offer a wonderful way to sit back, relax and enjoy the neighborhood.

Built for Family

Spending time with family is easy and relaxing in outdoor spaces that provide ample seating and rural views.

Prominent Entry

Two concrete planters with palms flank the handsome front door, with a dark walnut stain that offers contrast for the calm and cool blue exterior of the rest of the home and garage.

Welcome Inside

The walls of the entry were painted a crisp white that keeps things light and bright, in this welcoming space, which sets the scene for this picturesque coastal home. The well-designed entry also provides a preview of the spectacular views ahead.

Hide the Clutter

Having storage by the front door helps keep the entry attractive and clean. “We have a large oversized dresser that’s used to house all the things you need that you don’t want people to see when you come in and out of the house,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Stylish Stairwell

A blue and white ceramic umbrella stand in the entry with a classic design and vintage flair offers an easy way to keep umbrellas handy next to the stairwell. The wood tones of the stair treads to the upper level of the home add warmth to the entry area.

Rustic Yet Refined

Rustic wood floors reflect light throughout the space and keep things feeling bright and open.

Calm and Cool

A 10-foot industrial white ceiling fan is a must have for Lowcountry living where warm weather is a year-round affair. The fan’s style plays off the x-frame base of the white coffee table to unify the room’s design from top to bottom.

Seaside Textures

Choosing artwork that plays off the natural texture of the fireplace’s Tabby finish creates dynamic layers that keep the eye moving and add depth to the seating area.

Flexible Entertaining

Doors open from the great room to an adjacent patio that can accommodate more people or just open up the space to the great outdoors.

Double the Space

Doors from the great room open to the screened porch, doubling the size of the space and creating a versatile entertaining space.

Cool and Relaxing

The cool and relaxing colors of this spacious and inviting room makes it the perfect place to unwind with friends and family and take in the natural Lowcountry beauty surrounding HGTV Dream Home 2020.

Best of Both Worlds

This wide view shows how the dining room offers the best of both worlds, with an easy connection with the kitchen and just steps from another dining area located inside the screened-in porch.

Ideal Location

The open dining room enjoys an ideal location off the kitchen and just steps away from the great room, with lots of natural light thanks to large windows and the glass doors that lead to the screened-in back porch.

Coastal Inspiration

Upholstered seating in deep blue tones pops with coral accents and island style accessories to bring a Lowcountry look to this outdoor seating area.

Take Center Stage

The round pedestal table with a weathered base and wood top sits center stage in the dining room. A coastal-style, hand-woven area rug with different shades of white and sky-blue adds pattern and softness underneath the dining table.

Simply Calm

A neutral island with ample seating connects the kitchen to the great room and echoes the style and design of the adjacent seating area with natural tones and coastal blues.

Space to Gather

The spacious, open floor plan of the kitchen provides plenty of seating and makes it easy to entertain a crowd. Island seating means guests can hang out while dinner is prepped, and wood cabinets in a soft finish keep the space feeling calm and organized.

Quality Kitchen Time

There’s plenty of counter space in the open concept kitchen so it’s easy to prep dinner with friends and family with room to spare.

Plenty of Room

This view between the back of the island and cooktop shows the spacious lanes created in this well-designed kitchen, made for preparing meals and entertaining.

Attractive and Functional

The well-organized pantry, multipurpose center island, roomy counters and top-notch appliances are just some of the key features that make this attractive kitchen very functional.

Special Destination

The white storage cabinets, drawers and open shelves in the pantry pop against the navy-blue walls that help define the space, and give the pantry contrast from the adjoining kitchen.

Central Location

This view from inside the pantry with the door open shows the hallway that connects the pantry with the kitchen, laundry room and mudroom and front entry of the home. A water shutoff for the home is the white box on the wall in this photo.

Strategic Location

The strategic location of this super functional laundry room and mudroom allows you to get from the detached garage to the back of the house, without having to enter the rest of the home.

Special Feature

This laundry room and mudroom includes this double wide ventilated pet crate outfitted with a comfy dog bed and pet toys that gives the furry members of the family a comfortable spot for lounging. “If you’re someone who has a pet that needs to be put away during entertaining time, it’s super-friendly because there’s a lot of room for them to move around,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Well-Designed Laundry Area

Upper cabinets above the laundry room’s advanced washer and dryer offer concealed storage for cleaning supplies, with open space on top for baskets that can hold household items not used daily. A commercial laundry cart on wheels offers an easy way to transport clean and dirty clothes.

Classic Island Retreat

Pure white walls pop against tones of muted coral in this classic, island-style master bedroom.

Seaside Waves

A subtle wave on the island-style wooden dresser echoes the areas coastal setting.

Private Paradise

French doors in the master bedroom open to a private outdoor deck with custom lounge furniture.

Screened Solution

Screening in the porch means there’s no problem opening the French doors that lead into the bedroom to maximize outdoor living both inside and on the porch year-round.

Organic Island Style

Mixing wooden and natural textures from the dresser and mounted driftwood to the classic style of woven peacock chairs creates an organic, island vibe.

Stylish Storage

The master closet is a spacious and luxurious room full of stylish storage solutions and refined details.

Modern and Soothing

Wood floors, blush-pink walls, and black and white tile combine to create a modern yet soothing master bath space.

Double Vanity Fantasy

A double sink vanity provides ample space to get ready on busy mornings. Matching mirrors and light fixtures anchor the wall while using the black and white tile from the shower brings continuity to this section of the room.

Storage Solutions

A large linen closet can be found just outside the toilet closet and adds extra space for storing towels and bedding.

Choice of Activities

Visitors can gather around the table to share a drink and conversation, or play at the nearby outdoor/indoor foosball table. The landing also includes framed wall art and an area rug hung on the wall with a hanging mechanism that designer Brian Patrick Flynn and his team created. The rug ties together all the different colors used for this part of the home.

Room to Play

Foosball with friends is even more fun in the spacious multipurpose room of HGTV Dream Home 2020. A small seating area provides room for drinks and snacks, while the adjacent television means you never miss a moment of your favorite show or sports event.

Seafoam Style

Using soft tones of green in the multipurpose room brings coastal charm and a relaxing feel that complements the home’s island style.

Cozy and Comfortable Seating

A three-seater sofa and two deep armchairs provide comfortable seating in the multipurpose room, a flexible space that can be used for a variety of activities like watching an awards show, the big game or your favorite HGTV special.

Indoor/Outdoor Feel

Insulated French doors painted white connect the multipurpose room to the upper porch outside, providing an easy way to move from space to space.

Island Beauty

The home’s layout prioritizes outdoor living with multiple porches on each level of the home that focus on the area’s expansive marsh and coastal vistas.

Strategic Location

This view looking from the sofa shows the doorway with a set of barn doors that opens the multipurpose room to the landing outside, that connects this upstairs space to the two guest suites, attic and stairwell to the first floor of the home.

Distinctive Look

The guest bedroom at HGTV Dream Home 2020 has its own distinctive look with luxurious design details. “It’s very calm, cool and collected,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.
