HGTV Dream Home 2018: Modern and Minimal
The kitchen’s easy style relies on a clean design and well-chosen materials instead of lots of decoration. "The kitchen is probably the most modern or contemporary thing in the house, mostly because it’s kind of minimal," says designer Brian Patrick Flynn. "But it’s minimal because there’s so much architecture."

Pro Appliances + Waterlust Hues
Cooking for large gatherings is accommodated with both Wolf induction and gas cooktops and a 2-gallon-capacity Wolf steamer, which features a temperature range of 140 degrees to boil and includes one solid and one perforated stackable insert pan.

HGTV Dream Home 2009: Social Cooking Space
The gourmet kitchen in Dream Home 2009 is designed with the busy host in mind. "I love that the kitchen really works as a kitchen and then when lots of people are over it will accommodate tons of people and still function," interior designer Linda Woodrum says. "People in Sonoma really celebrate the joy of food and wine so we wanted to acknowledge that when we created the Dream Home kitchen."
Modern Meets Traditional
The gourmet space’s clean and modern feel comes courtesy of gray Silestone countertops and backsplash which blend seamlessly into the dovetail gray walls.
Dinner Made Easy
This kitchen features a Wolf microwave, nested between the wine storage units and stacked above a handy warming drawer, which keeps dishes delicious when guests run late.
HGTV Dream Home 2008: Modern Take
For the kitchen, interior designer Linda Woodrum created a sleek modern space accented with rustic art. It's a well-defined space, yet very open to the living and dining areas of the second-floor great room. A U-shaped, sand-colored countertop runs from the pantry door along the back wall, then turns below three square windows and back to form a peninsula dividing the kitchen from the dining area.
Neutral Traditional Kitchen With Tile Wall
Task lighting is integral to preparing food as demonstrated by the well-lit, long counter in this traditional kitchen. Glass cabinets provide visual dish storage against the full, small tile accent wall.
Professional Gas Range
The business end of the kitchen is a professional-grade gas range with stainless-steel finish. The stove is topped with a matching stainless-steel range hood, and a pot filler faucet extends out from the back wall, making it easy to put some water on to boil and cook up some fresh shrimp or lobster. Other appliances include a large microwave mounted below the counter and a stainless-steel dishwasher.
HGTV Dream Home 2007: Casual Yet Elegant
This kitchen combines a serious amount of form and function to create a professional, family-oriented kitchen.
Adding Texture
A counter and backsplash that are the same color but made of different materials bring additional texture to the kitchen.
Complementing Colors
The designer, Linda Woodrum, thought fleetingly of red counters, "but that seemed too Early American," she says. "I was dealing with a lot of wood, and I'd already made a commitment to big, strong, powerful blue elsewhere in the house. Blue is a little more sophisticated, and it's great with wood. Plus it contrasts beautifully with all of nature's greens and browns just outside the window."
Hidden Refrigerator
The spacious Sub-Zero refrigerator features custom panels so it blends beautifully with the cabinetry. A separate bar refrigerator is tucked under the counter across the room for easy access to cold drinks. The hidden fridge sits under a counter tiled in deep blue, natural quartz Silestone.

The big freezerless refrigerator in the kitchen holds plenty of room for perishables, while the freezer in the pantry serves as the perfect companion.
Restaurant-Style Amenities
