Soft, Relaxing Master Bedroom
The master bedroom from HGTV Dream Home 2015 combines neutrals with calming shades of blue as a nod to the soft coastal style found in the Cape Cod home. According to interior designer Linda Woodrum, the space is intended to be a calming, tranquil room that makes its inhabitants instantly relaxed.
Artistic Element
Classic furnishings and architectural details are accented by the gorgeous abstract art above the mantel. “We have some wild art above the fireplace, so I think the only non-traditional thing in this room is the very hot-energy art,” says Linda.
Cozy Bed in Soft Hues
The queen bed combines white with soft blue for a gentle calming effect. The upholstered headboard with a nail-head trim is a luxurious addition that frames the bed and exudes a soft, cozy vibe. According to Linda, “You just want to jump in that bed and relax.”
Private Master Suite
The master bedroom suite takes up the entire right wing of the house and includes the master bedroom, master bathroom and a spacious master closet. Each area is painted in a gorgeous blue that separates the suite from the rest of the home, making it a beautiful, calming escape.
Flooded in Sunshine
Large windows and French doors flood the master bedroom in natural light and offer sensational views of the breathtaking landscape surrounding this Cape Cod home.
Romantic, Feminine Lighting
A vaulted ceiling accented by beadboard and rustic beams draws the eye up and adds a charming cottage feel to the master bedroom. According to Linda, the chandelier is meant to add a feminine touch. She says, “New England tends to be sort of practical and matter of fact. Everything in here is pretty tailored, and we just wanted to put one little thing in here that was a little bit different – just to have some fun.”
Subtle Warmth and Elegance
Soft curtains and layers of throw pillows give the master bedroom a warm and cozy atmosphere. Linda believes the room exudes beauty and an upscale elegance that is exactly what the design team had hoped for all along.
Anchored Nightstand
A sweet nightstand with a wide surface provides a spot for a reading lamp, fresh flowers and a few select accessories that add personality to the bedroom. Since the master bedroom is so spacious, a large nightstand works to anchor the space.
Breakfast in Bed
Breakfast in bed is an everyday staple with this lovely patterned tray and simple blue dishes that make the bed linens pop.
Private Master Patio
Directly off the master bedroom is a private patio – the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee and relax, taking in the jaw-dropping Martha’s Vineyard views.
Fireside Retreat
And when the weather cools down, warm your feet by the gorgeous gas fireplace, all within the privacy of the master suite.
