Classic Cape Cod Style
Traditional pea gravel syncs with the surrounding cedar exterior to evoke a charming cottage feel, while a carriage garage door blends tastefully and completes the classic Cape Cod style.
Multi-Purpose Space
Simple but functional, the garage features a trash and recycling room that hides unsightly waste behind double doors. “This room could also serve as a room for bulk storage or for beach gear,” suggests lead architect Patrick Ahearn.
Temperature-Controlled Space
HGTV Dream Home 2015 possesses the luxury of a temperature-controlled garage, a brilliant and coveted amenity during the blustery winter months on Martha’s Vineyard.
The Vineyard Experience
Window boxes add a lively arrangement of color to the cedar siding. “The window boxes are very much a part of the Vineyard experience, and pertain to what is happening in each room so you look out and they are color coordinated,” explains interior designer Linda Woodrum.
Charming Cupola
Red cedar wood shingles were not only chosen for the roofing, but required by the community for a consistent neighborhood appearance. A cupola with a weathervane sits atop the garage as a tall spectacle.
Finishing Touches
Old fashioned lanterns emit soft, inviting light and adorn each side of the carriage garage door for an added touch of elegance in the evening.
